    - Keep TableRow Together I have a table with 3 tablerows. This 3 tablerows needs to stay together on the same page for each record. Sometime, a function set the Hidden property of one of this tablerow to true, so I cannot just fit the table to get a multiple number of 3. I use visual studio 2003 to create this rdl.     - howt to change ConnectionString in Context Hi All i am very new to SQL CLR, I create create an sample stored Procedure and registed the assembly and execute the SP in the query window , its working fine.     - How do I manage this mess? Thanks! Say for example I have the following 2 database tables, the first one contains the old employee data, and has the fields shown below: oldEmployeeID FirstName LastName DateOfBirth HiringDate TerminationDate and another one containing the new employee data with similar fields but instead of oldEmployeeID, it is showing the newEmployeeID. During the conversion process, something were messed up and instead of putting in the original hiring date of the workers into the new employee database, the conversion date was put in, which, depending on the mood of HR ladies, could be any date, and at the same time, of course, new employee join the company, and we assume their hiring dates were entered correctly. On top of that, there are some employee who were terminated before the conversion took place but we still need to keep a record of that. And I created a third table, say, emplyeeAll with similar fields to the employee data tables. So here is what I need to do: if the firstName, lastName and DateOfBirth in the old employee data table and the new employee data table matches, I would assume they are the same employee, hence I would put the information for the employee obtained from the new employee data table to the employeeAll table, with the Hiring Date changed to the Hiring Date of the old employee data table (and do not copy the record from the old employee table to prevent duplicates), otherwise, I would simply copy and paste the data in new and old employee table to my employeeAll table. I know this is really confusing, but...well...hope you know what I am saying... Is it possible to have a SQL statement for all these If so, how should the statement looks like Thanks a lot!     - Flat file to table - rows out of order Hi, I noticed something strange today. I created a pkg that reads a flat file and writes the rows to a table. In checking the data in the file against what's in the table, I noticed that the rows were inserted in a different order than they are in the file. All the rows appear to be in the table correctly, but they're just not in the same order as in the file. I've never seen this before. But I checked very carefully, and this is indeed the case.     - SQL Server install I am new to the Community and trying to install SQL 2005 Dev on a Vista client. Previously I had Express installed. I could not fully remove all the pieces. During the install or upgrade i keep getting errors for IIS. IIS is installed on the machine but it keeps errroring. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Tag: plain text mails

    - stored procedure parsing comments incorrectly For a second time I encountered a strange problem with a stored procedure, which is simply not parsing and executing correctly. On both occasions the problem occurred with pretty long stored procedures - the one I have now is 2000 lines long. The first time I saw this I was working on SQL Server 2000, now I have a SQL Server 2005, but the database is in SQL Server 2000(80) compatibility level. The problem is that a regular SQL comment is sometimes merged with the line under it. --some comment some SQL code is parsed as --some comment some SQL code You can see how this can be a huge problem. From what I know the contents of a sp are stored in the system table syscomments, which splits the longer stored procedures into several records. I am wondering if there isn't a parsing problem when putting together a longer stored procedure. Perhaps if a "new line" character happens to be at the records split it is ignored and the two lines of TSQL get merged. My "fix" has been to readjust/remove the comments, add additional empty rows in between or just split the stored procedure into several smaller sps. I will appreciate your feedback if you know more about parsing the stored procedure from the database engine or if you have a better work-around. Tag: plain text mails

    - Using XML Source in SSIS vs Script Source to parse xml files. Hi I am having a huge xml file with nested section. i also have a xsd file for that xml. i have a destination table where the data from the xml should be loaded into. i am using the xml source transformation. But o get all the data i need to use multiple merje joins to get the data in a single row which i can insert into the destination.i was not quiet convinced with using so many joins. so i tried using the script source transformation where i am using xml objects to get the node and dynamically construction the data row. and the output is then inserted into the destination. on comparing the two approach the one using the script source is working much faster than the xml source transformation. i wanted to know is there any limitaion using the script source to parse through xml files. also i would like to know any other better way of getting the data from xml source without using the joins.     - Radio button Hi, I have one report,in my report i need to display parameters like this: one radio button :Age and another radio button is Age Ranges For the Age,I have to dispaly like two text boxes named 'From' and 'To' For the Age Ranges,I have to display one drop down list contains values :20s,30s .. In Reporting Services,Putting the Radio button is not possible,i think,If possible how to achive this. Other workaround is i think Multivalued parameter which displays the Age and Age ranges When we click on Age we need to display 2 textboxes When we select Age Ranges we have to display Drop down list If we select both :both 2 text boxes and drop down list. Putting multi valued parameters for this requirement is not good and this is not the multi valued parameter concept.Please clarify me whether iam correct or not. Hi, i am trying to transfer objects from SQL Server 2000 DB to SQL 2005 DB. i have copy schema to true and i am only copying tables. when i have tried first time it worked fine but in next time it start to give error. here is the error description.     - MIgrating Existing WorkFlow Data using SSIS Hi, I have posted the same query in the WF group too. Thought I'll post the same here. We have an existing application which has some WorkFlow Data. We need to migrate this data using SSIS. Now the problem here is that we have our Workflow facade class which inturn calls the WorkFlow Runtime. We have created the methods which will create the new WorkFlows. TO add this DLL in our SCript Component Reference, we added a strong name to my Facade.dll and deployed it to GAC. The system.WorkFlow DLL's are also present there. Everytime I run this Package, I get the following error "System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load assembly...".     - Cannot connect to SQL Express from WEB Application on internet Hi, I have installed SQl express 2005 SP1 and then configured it to accept remote connections which works within my internal network. I can connect other client stations within our internal network. However, when i try to connect to the database using a VB.net web application, the application cannot connect to the database. I have a hardware firewall which configured to foward port TCP 1433 and UDP 1434 to the SQL express server. I have also carried out a telnet communication to ports 1433 and 1434 and able to communicate on port 1433 and get an error message cannot connect to host on port 1434.     - The Device is not ready error when Executing package on the server Hi, I have a package which reads an XML file from a certain folder and parses it. I deployed my package onto the server. Copied XML files on the D:\ drive the following folder on the server. Dim reader As New Xml.XmlTextReader( "D:\Apps\Request\Clients\ClientsStatus.xml" ) is fine.     - Unable to install SQL Server 2008 on Windows Vista I am unable to install the latest CTP of SQL 2008 on my Windows Vista machine. It gets through all the things that happen before the install starts, but when it tries to install I get the following error message: "The installer package could not be opened.     - Query Plan in SQL Server 2005 SP2 Hello, The query included at the end of this post seems to use the 'wrong' index when executing and takes 2+ minutes to run. When I provide an index hint, it runs in under 1 second. This happens in both the Production and Development environments; both servers run SQL Server 2005 SP2. When I run both the queries together in Query Analyzer (or SSMS), the Query Cost (relative to the batch) value for the query with the index hint = 83.24%. Profiler stats for Original Query: Duration = 130484 ms CPU = 111141 ms Reads = 85470 Profiler stats for Index Hint Query: Duration = 64 ms CPU = 687 ms Reads = 5558 Statistics are updated every night (w/Fullscan) Indexes are rebuilt/defragmented daily based on fragmentation levels. What am I missing here/how do I fix this performance issue Doesn't Profiler take into account the "Subtree Cost" for the Index Seek (which Query Analyzer & SSMS consider to be so expensive) What     - How to Locate the SSIS Installation? Part of our product will be using several SSIS packages. One of our installers wants to be able to create a .cmd file that will run DTEXEC against one of the packages, with the correct config file specified. It had been assuming that SQL Server was installed in the Program Files special directory, but that's not always the case. What is the correct way to locate the installation of SSIS In fact: What is the correct way to determine whether SSIS is installed What is the correct way to determine the version and SP that is installed (I want to require SP2) I had been using the values under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\90\DTS\Setup until I found an SP2 machine with SSIS installed which did not have these keys.     - Un-Pivot transform crashes BIDS (Serious Issue) I am facing a serious issue is BIDS. I have configured a Un-Pivot transform, source to unpivot is sort, when I change the source to derived column (one column name is same for both) and try to open Unpivot it gives me unreferenced lineage id (this is correct). Now When I select Delete Unreferenced Lineage Column and select Apply , it works till here. As soon as I select OK, BIDS crashes and closes. Tag: plain text mails

    - How to figure out if the dataset returned any data or not while rendering the report through the SSRS Web Service In one of my projects, i have been using the SSRS web service to render a report as pdf and then manually emailing it out. I need to know whether the data set for the report returned any data or not (so that i can avoid emailing the report with a blank report body). Ofcource this can be done by executing the same query (same as the query for the report) from C# code and checking the count of the resultset, before calling the SSRS Render method. But it might not be an efficient method. How can I set the default body_format in database mail. I would like to send a warning with plain text format (from the alerts), that i'll get on my mobile phone, but the message's format is html... always...and I don't get the sms-s.

Hmm...I believe the default format is text. However, whenever you call sp_send_dbmail, you can specify the @body_format param to be 'TEXT' so that you know it will be sent as text. To test, send a couple of test emails to an email account. If they are text, then you know you are on the right track. You could even put some html tags inside of the text body to ensure that it isn't formatted as html.

i know this, but i would like to send an email from the ssms's GUI environment (alerts).
i get an error message...i can send email in plain text format only...but i can't modify the body_format value (in gui environment)...this is a smtp server problem ...i don't know
) ... sorry my English is not too good...)
...just a comment, when i'm trying to send a mail from the database mail test ...it's success...but from the alert...unsuccess...

One option is to run Profiler as you are trying to send an email from the GUI. That way, you can find out exactly what is being sent to the database. That may help.
