    - MSSQLServer logging many missing stored procedure messages Hello, I am getting many of these messages in my server's event log (approximately 13 every 5 seconds or so). I have tried clearing the queue with "END CONVERSATION @ConvHandle WITH CLEANUP;" but the event log keeps getting messages. I have attached an example below.     - VERY slow stored procedure performance on datetime parameter eralper - I had already tried running the sproc with the recompile option each time. It does help improve performance and would, depending on the parameters, run in as little as 14 seconds. However, that's still far from the 0-2 of the normal SQL. As for the date range specified, I'm honestly not clear on how the range of dates would effect execution plan, but in this particular case it isn't relevant because the date range was only a day.     - Help with query I'm not sure if this is the right forum but here goes: I want to make a query that selects data from multiple tables and joins it all together. I have that but what i want to do is only select the data I need. at the moment it is returning columns that are not necessary.     - New User - Unable to connect Hello, Im new to SQL Server so please forgive me if I seem a tad ignorant. Any help is much appreciated. I have just installed SQL Server 2005 CTP on my machine at home in order to learn more about it. The istallation completed successfully on my home pc under XP Pro w SP2. I use the machine with Administration priveliges. There is also a local account on the machine I could use, but I never do. No password entry is required. When I launch Management Studio it gives me the option to connect to a server and lists myself as the only option. When I select this account (the same one that has administration privelidges) it attempts to connects but times out. I receive an error message saying the server actively refused the connection. I am a little confused as to the architecture of SQL Server I suspect. I have installed SQL Server on the machine, but it seems to be behaving like a client installation. If anyone knows of any articles that may help me, or if there is a simple explanation to help get me connected, I would be most greatful.     - problem deploying SSIS to another server. Hello, I am trying to deploy a SSIS package (using deployment utility create at build time) to a different server and ran into problem wonder if someone and direct me to the right path. development environment: WIN XP, SQL 2005. package is built using server buisiness intelligence. Package content: connect to a "target"SQL2005server using OLE DB using SQL Login authentication to process data. The SQL 2005 DB is on a Win 2003 server (R2) as OS platform. The package was built, install ( SQL not file system)and ran fine on the development environement; when attempt to deploy the package to the SQL 2005 server where data reside and should be processed (also install to SQL), I receive error " 0x80004005 ...description TCP Provider: No connection could be made because the target machine activily refuse it". which is an odd error since the package is on the server that it try to connect to the data base on it.     - File Move Component Error My process checks values in certain files in a "Source" folder against a table in a database. If these values do not match, those files are moved to a "Fail" folder and if they are validated then they are moved to a "Success" folder. My issue is caused by the fact that these files (which are notepad text files) are not being moved over to the success folder for the following error: "The process cannot access the file '\\Server1\c$\Source\239598.TXT' because it is being used by another process." I have checked whether these files were actually being used by another process but even cutting off users from the directory and even copied a test file into the folder, the issue will still pop up and for random files. I've tried using two different components to do the same thing as the "Move" component --- "Copy files from source to destination" and then a separate component "Delete file from Source folder" which is essentially a move. The issue persists on the Delete process because it sees that the file is still being used by some other "imaginary" process it seems to me. I've tried upping the MaxErrorCount on the Delete and even using the Move components to try to ignore this issue but the package still fails.     - Barcode doesn't print from reports server I have tried using barcode fonts without much success. However I did find a product which works very well and I highly recommend it. THe only caveat to using this product is if you upgrade it you need to go back and upgrade all your other reports that use the older version. the product is neodynamic barcode professional 3.0 for reporting services.     - SSAS 2005 Connection For a linked server to work you either need to setup your SQL Server to be running under an account that has access to the SSAS cubes, or you need to configure the linked server to run as a specific domain account. Accessing the offline cube with MS Excel 2003 I get an error message: "Unable to obtain list of tables from the data source".     - Can't Get SQL Authentication to work With XP Pro SP2 in very simple test case I'm trying to work my way through the steps of using a User Id and Password in a connection string. I'm working with SQL 2005 Express, VS2005, in the development server. Got an error I can't get around...tried it several diffent ways on a slightly more complicated test site...no joy...so went to the MSDN tutorial...made the most "vanilla" test I could think of, and still can't figure it out. I thought it would be simple enough that I could post the whole thing (below) The test works fine with Integrated Security = True in the connection string.     - tfs installation issue !!!!!!!!1 i had SP1 of visual studio and TFS installed on my server but it didnt work and i had a server failure, so i removed the SP1 after doing this i had this error: " Team Foundation Server does not exist or is not accessible at this time. Technical information (for administrator): HTTP code 503: TF30059: Fatal error while initializing web service " after searching on line i found that there is problem in version number of Microsoft.TeamFoundation.VersionControl.Server.dll file so i changed it to be compatible with TFS version number. by dowing this the following erro appeared " Please contact your administrator. There was an error contacting the server. Technical information (for administrator): HTTP code 500: Internal Server Error " after that i removed the TFS and tried to reinstall it on the same server, here i had the following error: "Error 28922.TFServerStatusValidator: ErrorConnectingToDatabaseWhenImpersonated - Most likely the service account doesn't have permission to access TFS database (because the tool succeeded connecting to the TFS database as the current user - user running setup)" and here im totaly stuck , coz the user of services can connect to sql server , i used the sevice account to connect to sql server and connection was established successfully.     - Connection Error from ASP.Net under IIS: provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 We experience the 40 error when our Asp.net code runs under IIS and uses named pipes to a sql server 2005 named instance. We've tried all suggestions found on blogs and KB articles such as making sure the named pipes protocol is enabled, making sure the Browser service is started, making sure Allow Remote Connections is enabled, making sure we're not using Asp.Net 2.0 membership providers, and the list goes on and on. We boiled it down to a simple test scenario. We open a SqlConnection to the sql 2005 box in the code with the intention of binding a datareader to a gridview, but it never gets that far because the connection.Open() fails. If we run this test application as a virtual directory in IIS and Asp.Net 2.0, the connection.Open() fails. If we run this test application from Visual Studio .Net using Cassini (PWS), the connection.Open() succeeds and binds to the gridview. What could be causing the connection to fail under IIS but succeed under Cassini We've tried setting IIS to run as a domain user and with digest authentication enabled. That made no difference.     - How to move Full Text Catalog SQL 2005??? I figured this out without much help from Microsoft or the internet...but it seems that my lack of restore knowledge was my downfault. It seem sthat when restoring a database with Full-Text Catalogs using the nice "wizard", you have the option of moving the databases AND the Full-Text Catalogs. I was trying way to hard to make this work using line commands which eventually foobared my last few transaction logs so I lost a few hours of data...no big deal in this project, glad it wasn't mission critical. I have a Db that is 1.7 gigs. The table data takes approximately 200megs. The transaction logs were truncated. Where else can this large size be coming from and how can I confirm

DB is generally small. ~25 tables, 100 SPs, 10 views, etc.

Note:

I have 4 queues using SQL Notifications, but when selecting from them results in no data.

sp_spaceused can give you some details about data space. sp_helpfile will show data and log file sizes.

You may just need to shrink your database to get the file sizes down using DBCC SHRINKDATABASE or SHRINKFILE.
