I believe you need to uninstall the Beta releases in order to apply the SP1.

That appears to be the case, but do you have any idea how to do that It doesn't appear in Add/Remove programs for me and running the installer again doesn't give the option to remove it. I haven't had any luck searching the web for an answer, thus far.

Unfortunately they didn't help in my case. VS2k5 SP1 beta is not listed by either msiinv.exe or the Windows Installer Cleanup utility.

See this http://blogs.msdn.com/heaths/archive/2006/12/18/uninstall-visual-studio-2005-service-pack-1-beta-before-installing-the-release.aspx is any help, I'm sure you can uninstall beta products and if no luck only way is to reinstal the client's machine or use system recovery for previous state on XP.

Arg! Now I feel like an idiot. I hadn't checked "Show Updates" in Add/Remove Programs. It's uninstalling now and I assume I'll then be able to install SP1 RTM without a problem.

Thanks!

That was indicated in the first of the articles I sent you, and I realize that perhaps I should have also mentioned it to you so as to emphasize the point.

Hope you have it working now.

Actually, what that article said was, "For OS hotfixes, you need to make sure the Show updates checkbox is checked in the top middle of the Add/Remove Programs control panel."

Not that I noticed that the first time, but this wasn't an OS hotfix.

Regardless, it is working now. Thanks for the help.
