The easiest thing to do would be to give NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE account NTFS permissions to that folder. Not sure how that agrees with your overarching security architecture.

Network Service will need write access that that folder. ASP.Net creates a cache of the files under the report server bin directory when it loads the report server application. If it doesn't have rights to the folder it will fail as you are see it do so.

Now, that being said, asp.net registration should have taken care of that for you when you installed the .net framework. There are some weird cases where, if you install IIS AFTER installing the .Net framework, this won't happen. You should be able to use the aspnet_regiis.exe utility in the v2.0.50727 with the -ga flag to grant network service the rights it needs.

Hope that helps,

-Lukasz

Hi,

I had the same problem as Lukasz (for the NETWORK SERVICE account) and tried your suggested remedy. It did help with the specific error, but other errors still persist. The tragic in this is, that this worked allright before and stopped working in the middle of the day with no apparent reason.

I am trying to browse the Reports folder of RS from within the IIS console. The same thing happens when I browse to the direct URL from IE (http://server/Reports). I get this:

------------------------------------

Unable to generate a temporary class (result=1). error CS2001: Source file 'C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\gyrsau76.0.cs' could not be found error CS2008: No inputs specified

--------------------------------------

Previously i was getting the same error as Lukasz. It is getting very frustrating... Can someone help please

Thanks!

Tomaz

Ok, after granting access for NETWORK SERVICE to the temp dir, i got rid of this error, but am instead getting this one:

-------------------------------------

The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer.

-------------------------------------

The server IS RUNNING though... And it all happened "out of nothing"... Help please!
