Interesting question. I do not think that the MDX scripts are part of the partitions so it should be another problem.

You don't even need to do a Process Default - you don't need to do any processing to see changes in an MDX Script after you have made a change, you just need to do a Deploy. I always set the Processing Option property of my projects (right-click on the project name in Solution Explorer, choose properties, then go to the Deployment tab to see it) to Do Not Process to stop any processing taking place when I deploy; there's no point waiting 10 or more seconds for Process Default to work out nothing needs processing.
Deployment on its own can still be annoyingly slow, which is why the 'Deploy MDX Script' functionality of BIDS Helper is so cool:
