    - Performing insert / update queries using Pocket PC / SQL CE I'm writing an application for Windows Mobile 5 / Pocket PC using VB.NET 2005. The database is connected using an instance of SqlCeConnection and updated by an SqlCeCommand. The application can perform select queries on data originally entered into the database through Visual Studio, or perform update / insert queries at run time. Anything inserted or updated can be returned by a select query whilst the application is running, however, anything I have inserted or updated doesn't appear to be written to the SDF file and hence is not in the database after restarting the application. Am I missing something that's different between performing queries on an SQL CE database on Pocket PC and an ODBC source in a normal Windows application Tag: How to brute force delete subscriptions ?

    - no data after copying HI, I just copied sm data from a table in a DB to a flat file which I have created previaouly in my documents in my local machine. I used the following command. C:\Documents and Settings\shamen> dbname.tablename out flatfile.txt -T Once I run this it prompted two questions asking pre-fix lenght and field terminator. I jsut accepted the default values. After I run it, it copied data. But when I see the flat file , I did not see data in that file. To where data has been copied it says 10000 rows succesfully bulk-copied to host file.     - Database engine not displayed by management console I have sql server 2005 express installed on an XP machine. When I browse for a database engine, SQL server 2005 management console displays machinename\sqlexpress in the local tab, BUT in the network tab only the machinename is displayed.     - Control Flow Diverging then Converging Back I am somewhat new to SSIS and have a question on branching/control flow. We have 3 manufacturing facilities on AS400. Requirement were to create independent SSIS packages in case certain facilities were down, to not interrupt or fail other facilities. to be honest, I didn't want to maintain 3 * (each plant package) packages and decided to create one that takes in a command line parameter and will create seperate batch files (requirements for our archaic scheduling system) that pass in the plant to be processed. Everything works fine and the packages analyze the passed parameter with no problem and evaluate it when calling stored procedures int a SQL Task. I am required (I think - let me know if I'm wrong here) to have 3 seperate Data Flow tasks depending on which plant is being processed because they are different connections (same server, different DBs - AS400). Which Data Flow Taks run is based on a precedence constraint that analyzes the passed in plant number. After the Data Flow Tasks are complete, I'd like to merge back into one path again (even though1 out of N will only run at a time) because they are all simply stored proc calls with different parameters. It seemed silly to me to have the same tasks repeated 3 different times. I looked into started up tasks after events, but I don't know a lot about it and it seems as though I would still be maintaining 3 different paths anyway. Can anyone point me in the right direction P.S. Is there any way one can "select * from (exec sp_MyStoredProc @var='someval') where SomeCol='someotherval'" from a single statement I have tried using functions, but neither of the 3 types are sufficient: I need to return a table / rowset, the source statement involves multiple lines and ugly dynamic SQL, and I do not know what columns I will be returning until half way through execution. For some context, I am trying to create a central security mechanism for our views used in reporting. In the RDL's the dataset SQL is in the form of 'select * from XRV_ViewName where UserID=@UserID'. I've made a stored procedure that takes a view name and some security credentials which analyzes the view's columns and generates a large select statement with appropriate where clauses appended to it. Obviously, all I want to do now is somehow return the results of that select to the RDL. Just doing exec(thesql) in the stored proc works fine in management studio, but it's painfully apparent that you can't directly select from the results of a stored proc in a single statement. Functions seem insufficient as well for previously mentioned reasons. I've can't make output cursor variables work (in a single line), I've researched temp tables and table variables, even looked at openquery and I can't seem to find any decent solution.     - SSIS - Connection String Issue Hi I have been trying to resolve a connection string issue all day, and havent figured out whats the problem. I keep getting the Acquire Connection error everytime I run my package. Can you someone review the format of my connection string, and confirm that it is indeed the correct format: I have two conn strings specified in my config file, one is to connect to a remote database and one is for local. I have validated the connectivity from my server to these databases via Management Studio, and it seems to connect fine. But when I run my package it keeps failing.     - Out of virtual memory I have one package that is constantly running out of virtual memory, right now I am on a development server, running only this package. The package is moving data from one table into another on the same server in the same database. The server has 3 Gb of memory and is only running SS2005 and SSIS. I am a local admin on the server and running the package through BIDS, once again for our initial testing. I tried setting the property BufferTempStoragePath to our E drive so it can utilize the 100 Gb of free space we have but that doesn't seem to work either. I have also tried setting the MaxRowSize to many different values to no avail. I am constantly getting an error, see below for exact error, when it gets through roughly half the load. Moreover it reports this error about 500 times in the progress report if I let the package run to completion. Finally, when all is said and done the package has moved the data successfully but the package always shows as failing. I have googled continuously on this problem but have not found a resolution. I did see on a post here where it was recommended to run the package out of process, however I don't see the benefit at this point when this is the only package I am running. I also don't understand why it would report the error so many times and fail the package when it is completing successfully Source and Destination have the same number of records at the end of the task. Could someone please try to make sense of this. Getting Error: [DTS.Pipeline] Information: The buffer manager detected that the system was low on virtual memory, but was unable to swap out any buffers. 4 buffers were considered and 4 were locked. Either not enough memory is available to the pipeline because not enough is installed, other processes are using it, or too many buffers are locked Thank you for your assistance! Occurs when SQL times out on new Windows 2003 sp2 server We just replaced an older Windows 2000 sp4 server with a new Window 2003 Standard Edition sp2 server to run our batch processing. We noticed that when the SQL command times out we now get the following error in the ADO command object error collection. [DBNETLIB][ConnectionWrite (send()).] General network error. Check you network documentation. Native Error: 11 SQL State: HY018 msado15.dll version 2.82.3959 is on this server. On other servers running Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition sp1 the error on the ADO command object is normal with. Timeout expired Native Error: 0 SQL State: HYT00 msado15.dll version 2.82.1830 is on this server. The SQL server they are talking to is on the other side of a firewall. It is SQL 2005 sp2 running on Windows 2000 sp4. I have also tested this on a Windows 2003 sp2 server that doesn't have to cross a firewall and get the correct Timeout error. It also has the same version of msado15.dll as problem server. The application is a collection of VB6 Components that are running in COM+ applications. I have isolated the test application to our one SQL interface component and have build a test vbs that can reproduce this on demand. The VB6 Components were not modified in any way for this change and have been working fine for many years prior to this. All other aspects of our batch processing works as expected. Transactions are working fine. As long as the SQL doesn't timeout everything is normal. DTCPing was used to ensure both servers have correct ports open to allow DTC traffic. Checked the SynAttackProtect setting on SQL and this is not an issue since other clients have no problems. One point I would like to add is that this new server was initially setup with a temporary server name and then was changed to use the name of the original server on move day.     - Datareader Query Timeout Hello, I am running a query via a ado.net data flow source. It works great for a small number of rows, but if I try to execute a long running query it times out with a communication error. I have looked through the doc and every property sheet that I can find in my package, but I can't find anywhere that a timeout is specified. Any help on finding this would be appriciated. The query is running against DB2 on z/os and I know it is timing out on the server side because I can watch the query run on z/os and it continues to run after SSIS gets the error. Thanks!     - Missing Table Data in SQL 2005 Standard Hello, There has been a sudden loss of data in some (not all) of the tables in my database. I am using SQL Sever 2005 Standard with a simple recovery model for a single database. I can't find any specific hints in the logs to explain the loss, and this did not occur during a backup or scheduled maintenance routine. It seems the data just vanished at a specific point this morning, and I am not able to find out why.     - Odd characters added to T-SQL Automatically I am using Reporting Services 2000 and therefore VS 2003 and am having a problem editing the T-SQL query in the data view of Visual Studio. Basically if I manually edit the T-SQL query or touch anything in the designer view of the query I get odd characters added in the T-SQL and the query no longer works. I have tried re-installing VS2003 and RS 2000 but it's still happening. FYI I also have SQLServer 2005 and VS 2005 on my machine as all applications we develop are in .Net 2.0 and 3.0. I restored a huge ReportServer backup on a dev machine and I do not want the subscriptions and their jobs.
I already changed the SMTP server address so emails will go to nowhere.

Now What is the best sequence to get a rid of all subscriptions

Delete records (or truncate) from the ReportServer.Subscriptions table then delete all the subscriptions jobs or the other way around

BTY, a centralized management of subscriptions as well as stuffing all these jobs into a folder would be a welcome addition.

Safest way would be using a simple script for deleting all subscriptions via DeleteSubscription() SOAP API and rs.exe.

BOL is not very user friendly about rs.exe.
