    - Out of virtual memory Here is another issue to add on top of the previous... Once the package runs Sql Server is left holding all the memory to the system. We watched it both through Performance Monitor and through task manager and after an hour it had not released the memory... 1.4 Gb and holding.     - How to brute force delete subscriptions ? Hello, I restored a huge ReportServer backup on a dev machine and I do not want the subscriptions and their jobs. I already changed the SMTP server address so emails will go to nowhere. Now What is the best sequence to get a rid of all subscriptions Delete records (or truncate) from the ReportServer.Subscriptions table then delete all the subscriptions jobs or the other way around BTY, a centralized management of subscriptions as well as stuffing all these jobs into a folder would be a welcome addition.     - How to make changes in the SSIS package w/o opening it. You do not have to open the OLE DB source in design mode when using configurations. Here is the idea. Create a string variable and call it something like SourceSQL Create a configuration that sets the SourceSQL value Set your OLE DB Source to use the "SQL command from variable" data access mode Set the Variable Name to SourceSQL Apply the configuration at runtime. This will work as long as your column names and data types are consistent. The benefit of this approach is that you can go from having many packages to having one package.     - Datareader Query Timeout DataReaderSrc does not timeout, as long as the ADO.Net connection manager is still receiving data from the server, it will pull out all and pass them to its downstream dataflow components - I tried to read 27million rows (4GB) in DataReaderSrc(using HIS provider for DB2) and I did not see any problems reading out all rows.     - Odd characters added to T-SQL Automatically I am using Reporting Services 2000 and therefore VS 2003 and am having a problem editing the T-SQL query in the data view of Visual Studio. Basically if I manually edit the T-SQL query or touch anything in the designer view of the query I get odd characters added in the T-SQL and the query no longer works. I have tried re-installing VS2003 and RS 2000 but it's still happening. FYI I also have SQLServer 2005 and VS 2005 on my machine as all applications we develop are in .Net 2.0 and 3.0.     - Reference for SQL SERVER 2000 For me, what you refer to as a 'reasoning' book (Kalen's Inside SQL Server ), is one of my primary 'reference' materials. (I thought you asked for a 'reference' book, but it now seems like you want 'learning' materials. You might find Wrox Press' SQL Professional 2000 for to be a useful 'learning' resource. If the '21 Days' or 'Dummy's' books work for you, there is nothing wrong with them. All vendors have extended the basic ANSI SQL language for their products. Just about any 'SQL' other than the basic SELECT/INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE is an 'extension' particular to that specific vendor. There are those that espouse writing ONLY ANSI SQL code so that the server is interchangable. My opinion is that if is like eating only raw fruits and vegetables when traveling. Yes, you will survive, your nutrition needs will be ok -BUT you loose the unique 'flavor' of the area visited. If you are supporting SQL Servers, learn and get comfortable with T-SQL. I'm setting up a new computer, and opening an SSIS project I've worked on elsewhere. Here's what I'm seeing (see http://tkfiles.storage.live.com/y1pX-TdM6iRI3cSQsl2V4GLd5RAuX2ygIeBbMSb-VM7vTauMSqehrm7pFvpA6N2sFLQFrb4a-1iXnk):

The borders and icons come back if I resize the window by dragging an edge of the window. They disappear again if I maximize the window.

It's very odd, but I'm wondering if it means that something sinister is going on. I didn't set up all of the software on this machine, so I don't fully trust that it was set up correctly.

I've seen couple cases with same problem, it was caused by old video driver (I think these machines had original Nvidia driver supplied with XP), the problem disappeared once the video driver was updated to the latest version from the video card vendor site. Give it a try.

I've seen it as well. In my case - a simple restart of BIDS worked.
