i was using mssql 2000

how can i restore my database on another server without affecting the data stored on that server,

or

would there be a wizard where i can compose a query of the design of the whole database and run those on another server to update its structure

Is that database already present on the other server If not, then just do a backup and restore to that server. Otherwise, in EM, you can right click on the db, generate SQL Scripts, and execute that script on the other server.

what about the table contents,

the tables are created empty

i think thats because of the drop and create command at the formatting tab.

was there a way to retain the data previously encoded

Yes, the db will be empty. If you need the data, you can either import the data from the other database, or just do a backup/restore on the new server.
