Our new version of a VB.net 2005 program uses

Install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition

While upgrading a client over PCAnywhere in another state, I inadvertantly installed

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services

I have had an absolute nightmare with SQL 2005 uninstalling it from a laptop on my desk, so you can understand why I don't want to try uninstalling the Advanced Services version on a computer over PCAnywhere.

However, the remote computer does not have IIS on it, which prompts a warning form Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services.

So, the simple question is, if the program works Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition then I assume it will work with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services, since it doesn't use any advance services.

Please advise.

Bob

SQL Server Express Advanced is almost like other SQL Server editions except the Agent that is there is no SQL Server Agent in Express Advanced and you can use the toolkit version to create reports with Reporting Services that is the reason it was asking for IIS because IIS is required to run Reporting Services. Try the links below for both versions of Express and SQL Server features compare.

I appreciate you help, but that does not answer my questions.

Will a program that runs fine under SQL Express 2005 run fine under SQL Express 2005 Advance Services (without IIS on the computer)

A program that runs in Express will run in Advanced without IIS, only users who want to use Reporting Services need IIS.
