Is there a way to turn IE7's auto scroll off so that every time you drill down by clicking on one of the "+" toggle buttons the report doesn't recenter itself. We find this window jumping/scrolling highly annoying to watch.

This problem does NOT occur in FFox, just Microsoft's browsers.

We are displaying this report running on another server running Visual Studio 2005's ReportViewer control in an aspx (ASP.NET) page.

We are using SSRS 2005, std edition.
FFox 2.0.0.6, IE7.

Will be glad to post more info if requested.

Please post more information. Either I have never experienced this or I am clueless as to what you are reporting.

You're saying when you click the +- toggle that typically handles visibility, the report recenters itself What do you mean by recenter I think what you're saying is when you click the toggle, the display centers on the item that you toggled. Why wouldn't you want it to do that

Thanks for replying.

You are exactly right, the display centers on the item that I toggle. Neither our client, my boss, nor I find this behavior helpful, and wish the newly-visible rows in the report would become visible but not scroll after becoming visible. We just find this scrolling disorienting. If, on the other hand, this scrolling was much slower and smoother it would probably be acceptable, but not this jerky behavior. I'm extremely surpised that most everybody in our office doesn't like this, but it seems like everybody else in the world prefers it (I can't find any other posts which complain of this). I guess it takes all kinds.

Can edit your response and increase the size of the font please. I can't read most of it.

How much RAM is in the PC that shows the "jerky behavior" I really don't notice anything jerky on our system, but we have 2 GIGs of RAM on it.

This isn't a machine problem. I'm running a dual-Xeon 2.66Mhz. "Jerky" is my way of describing adrupt content recentering. This is a user-interface design problem, not a hardware failure. You are more than likely witnessing the exact same behavior on your systems. I guess most people prefer this kind of page manipulation that I feel is untenable, but at the very least there should be a way of turning this off.

To answer your question, 1.5 GB.

Oh, I see it now. The browser repositions the image that was toggled to the top of the screen. You would prefer a gradual scrolling of the data to the top. However, it is a reposition that is irritating to you.

Have been able to come up with any work around yet I am having the same trouble and have not been able to find a way to disable this functionality.

No. I haven't come up with a work-around. I'm sure there is one, but I just haven't had time to dig through all the javascript.

Has somebody found a workaround in the meantime
