    - Merge replication between SQL Server and SQL Express doesn't work as I expect! Hi all, I have a problem. Here is the scenario: I have and instance of SQL Server 2005 which is publisher and distributor and an instance of SQL Express which is the subscriber. I am using Push model. Everything works fine. Here is the problem: I want data flow to be only from publisher to subscriber, so I set the Synchronization Direction of my publication articles to Download-only to subscriber, prohibit subscriber changes. But seems that it totally ignores my settings. When I change something on publisher it is reflected on subscriber which is correct. And when I change something on subscriber, it changes the publisher which is weird.     - Unable to restore database "..because it is in use by this session." First of all, I routinely restore in exactly this way and it has never been a problem before on any server. Second, it is not clear what you mean by not connected to the database. I do have a connection to the server in SSMS, and the db in question is one of the db's on the server. However, I did click on one of the other db's on the server and tried, and got the same error. Thanks for any other suggestions you or anyone might have.     - Spurious Errors With Package Execution on Local Machine Thanks guys. I think I isolated the problem to Package Configurations getting in the way, which were in fact causing me to run against the wrong targets and sources. This has been corrected. I am now back to the very bizzare problem of a Data Flow Task running successfully, reporting X records written, but only 1 record actually being written to the table. For example, I disabled all containers and tasks except for one that loads a Geography dimension table. The debugger runs to green (success), and reports: Information: 0x4004300B at DFT_LoadDimGeography, DTS.Pipeline: "component "OLE_DST_DimGeography" (3893)" wrote 175 rows. However, if I check the table, DimGeography, there is only one record in it. I can repeat this scenaro over and over again. It seems rediculous, but it is like there is a disconnect between the package and SQL Server 2000. All I can see in profiler, aside from querying the sources, is the following statement, which I understand is internal to the engine: insert bulk [dbo].[DimGeography]([GeographyID] int,[Country] nvarchar(50) collate SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS,[City] nvarchar(40) collate SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS,[Postal Code] nvarchar(10) collate SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS,[Region] nvarchar(50) collate SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS)with(TABLOCK,CHECK_CONSTRAINTS) This is extremely bizzare behavior and short of ripping the package out and starting over, I am quite at a loss.     - Need basic guidance on massive access to sql conversion I have a rather daunting task ahead of me. I have ot take an access mdb and bring it into sql express. Converting the tables is not a biggie, but I have more than 2500 queries that need to be brought over. I have several questions. 1. In many places I use queries with parameters as views. For example I might have a query that takes a couple of parameters and then turn around write another query that uses the first query as a table. Is there a way to do parameterized views in Sql 2. Does anyone know of a decent automated tool to do this The upsizing wizard is useless and I tried teh sql migration assistant, and it doesn't convert queries that have parameters. 3.     - Foreign Key Constraint issues!! Hello! Im in a bit of a jam, and before I start pulling my hair out, I was wondering if someone could help me with this! We've setup and have been running our backend database for our new site for about two or three weeks, now. Everything has been running fine, except we've hit a little bump. When a User creates an account on our website, they have to specify which Organization they are with. Inside the database, this creates a record in the Users table, which then creates a new record in a UserOrganizations table. After these actions have taken place, a record is created in a UserOrganizationsAdded table. All of this is purely to keep track of people on our website. Below is a basic outline of our tables. Users ---------- UserID Username Pasword . . . UserOrganizations --------------------------- UserOrganizationID UserID OrganizationID RoleID . . . UserOrganizationAdded --------------------------------- UserOrganizationAdded UserOrganizationID Added AddedBy . . . Now- When a User registers on our site, it shows up in the UserOrganizationAdded table that they've added themself. In other words their UserID shows up in the AddedBy field of the UserOrganizationAdded table. This is what we want. However, we run into the problem, that if a User is for whatever reason rejected from our site, and their record deleted from the Users table, we get a foreign key error. I understand that we get this error because AddedBy is referencing UserID (the very thing we want to delete), and we are receiving this error because they are the same value. I guess my question is, is there anything we can do to keep the reference constraint between AddedBy and UserID and still be able to delete users Any help would be much appreciated!!!! Thank you!     - How do I automate removal of reports? here is our setup: i have a bunch of environments set up in the config mgr : uat, dev, prod, etc each one points to a different deployment folder (the 6 environments are spread over 3 physical boxes, fyi) 'overwrite datasources' is set to false (this is a project properties (pages not the properties window) setting) i deploy to each of the environments as required the first time you deploy, you will need to go and set the connection string information for the given datasources on the report server, using report manager thereafter, the deployment will NOT overwrite the datasources as per the option you set so you can deploy a report to dev, test it, ok deploy the same report to uat, test it, ok deploy to production you will never need to go and change the connection string info again after this one time configuration NB you may wish to have the configs in separate projects to avoid accidentally deploying to production! sorry it is a bit rushed, let me know if not clear Tag: Cannot get access to my Access 2003 database tables

    - User credentials delegation from IIS on WinXP to SQL Server on Win2003SRV fails SPN is set and registered. I think once user credentials are authenticated against IIS and primary token established identity is not being passed to connect to SQL Server. Application log event indicates "Authenticaton Type" to be "negotiate" instead of "NTLM" or "Kerberos" and 'Is Impersonated" to be "false" which leaves me to assume that double hop fails as Kerberos authentication is not the authentication type it resolves to.     - Shared Connections and Stored Credentials for Subscriptions? Thanks Jarret, Your right, there are so many places that you can set credentials (Viusual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio/Report Server and Report Manager) and so many options (Integerated Wondows Security, Windows log in etc) it is difficult to test thiem all when you have limited time (i.e. most of the time). I did check the "Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source" check box at one stage and that seemd to help but if I re-depolyed the report and looked at the Properties/Data tab in the Report Manager, it was overwritten and set back to Integrated Windows Secuirty (the original setting for the Shared Data Source as configured in Visual Studio). Are you saying that I can't use Integrated Windows Security at all if I want configure subscriptions (I think that is what you are saying) Is the alernative to go to "Credentials" tab for the Shared Data Source and set "Use a specific user name and password" I think that I gave that a try but i was trying lots of different options in a short space of time. I have a stored procedure which when exceuted on SQL Server Browser takes little time to display the output on the screen. The same stored procedure is used by the application with SQL Server Reporting Services to generate the report. When executed, the application stops responding after sometime. After reading through the information in your link I think I need to clarify my security set up to check its definitely the 'double hop' problem. The identity that I'm impersonating is one created for this appication to use, not specific to the user. The identity has been created as a login on my db server and a user on the db I'm connecting to. This allows me to run an SSIS package containing stored procedures only. The AD user (identity) has been given access to the role required to run the Analysis Services Processing Task which is part of my SSIS package. I developed a database with Access 2003 and everything was working good until my tech came in and reformated my hard drive and install a new Ghost image that met our company standards.

Now I cannot go in and make any changes to any of the tables, queries and forms. All of this started when a new Ghost image was installed on my pc.

The message I get when I try to open my database is "You do not have permission to run "tblSwitchboard." I get the same error message when I try to do anything at all on the database.

I am at a loss as to what to do. Please help.

if you are using an access database, you probably should address your question to an access forum. use the MS public access forum to find adqueate answers.
