    - syntax problem reading binary data I execute the stored procedure specifying acDataBuf as 0x21222324252627 which translates to "ABCDEFG" ascii codes. The resulting field display is !"#$%&' which is hex: 0x01020304050607 (the "2"s got dropped) When I modify the code by adding a line sval="hello" the resulting field display is "hello" This tells me as long as sval is assigned a proper string, the rest will work ok. This is what I ant the table to look like. ProductCat Product Qty NewQty TypeA ProductA -10 -5 (Add ProductB to ProductA in the same ProductCat to reduce the deficit) TypeA ProductB 5 0 (Due to the fact that I added 5 to ProductA NewQty must be reduced by 5) TypeB ProductX 8 3 TypeB ProductY -5 0 (Deficit only has to be reduced to 0 where possible therefor the balance of 3 for ProductX) Note the values in Qty can stay as the same.     - Installation Hangs when on a large network Hi All, I have to do a lot of SQL Server Express 2005 installations and I've noticed that when I'm doing an install on a machine that's on a large network that the installer will "hang" towards the end of the installation process. The installer will say something about Local Groups and sit there for a really long time. As soon as I take the machine off of the network though (via unplugging the network cable) the installer jumps back into action. Of course, I've not seen this on a stand alone machine either... It would seem to me that the installer is trying to communicate via the network or something and then when it loses its LAN access it just moves on. But I'm not entirely sure why it would need to do that. More importantly, is there a way that I can keep it from doing this I'm doing a silent install so maybe I can use a command line swith or property In reviewing the command line options I didn't see much that seemed to fit; but perhaps one of you folks know of a way to achieve this.     - Bulk Insert Error Simple test project. Created Flat File connection, database connection (both local), and Bulk Insert Task. When running the package I get the following error: [Bulk Insert Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Cannot fetch a row from OLE DB provider "BULK" for linked server "(null)".The OLE DB provider "BULK" for linked server "(null)" reported an error. The provider did not give any information about the error.Bulk load: An unexpected end of file was encountered in the data file.".     - Does file connection manager not work offline? Hi there I have a connectin manager for file( New File Connection..) along with some oledb connection managers. Now If a put SSIS work Offline as True (I need this for some reason). Connection manager for File gives error as something -- "Connection manager for File connection failed with error code-0xc0014019,Connections cannot acquire connections while work offline is true."     - Problems With OLE DB Command Transformer I am trying to use the OLE DB Command Transformation to update rows in my table. When I make the connections and select the connectionmanager I get the following error: Error at Data Flow Task [OLE DB Command [6624]]: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E0C. The connection is valid. I have used it in many places in the data stream. I also see that there are no output columns available for mapping. I didn't see a place to select the table.     - Print each tables in new page Options Hi All, I have a report which has four tables in it. But I have only one Dataset. Since this dataset has more then 30 fields, I have divided this into four tables to be shown in a report. This will help the user to take print of the report and place each print out side by side for view. Showing each table in a new page is just fine. It works. But when we take print out some times rows of second table are printed in same page that shows rows of first table. With this user can not put each print out side by side for view. (For example, if you use SSMS, and you look at the raw data, you 'should' not see any currency symbol. If there is one stored, then the application is storing it as a character field with the currency symbol intact.) I have studied Xcopy Deployment (SQL Server Express) and User Instance for a quite a while and I still do not know where and how to use Xcopy to get the mdf file of the pubs database into the App_Data folder of the website of my VWDE project. Please help and give me the detailed key steps/instructions about where and how to get the .mdf file of the pubs database into the App_Data folder of the website of my VWDE project via Xcopy. When continuing the work at some time sql server ask the question whether to keep the result set or not. The component is now in assembly A with version 1.2.0.0 but not changed. There is aniway to have those packaged configured in order to automaticaly be upgrated to use the new version of the component I tried (in this order): - set the property "UpdateObjects" to true on package (while version 1.1.0.0 was available in GAC) and saved package. - unistalled the version 1.1.0.0 from GAC. - tried to reopen package with "Reload and Upgrade" option.     - Table transfer errors I have run into this when I have two columns that have the same column names. "ErrorCode" maybe a column name in one of your tables ErrorCode" (79)" and "output column "ErrorCode" (14)". 79 and 14 are table ids that SSIS has assigned in the wizard. Find these tables. I have seen this error specific to a data conversion task that is doing and explict conversion of the data types within the wizard. Fix:..Identify the tables with the columns above. go into the package and in the data conversion componant. give the output destination a name of "ErrorCode1" and the metadata will propagate to your destination. not a big deal, unless all of your tables have that column.... but from there you can just update the XML manually.     - Query takes more time from user interface or in a network I execute a pretty big sql query which joins multiple tables and I reviewed indexes on all these tables. I am happy with the result when I run the query using SSMS in the server locally i.e., where my SQL Server database is installed. It takes 4 seconds to get around 17000 records. If I run the same query in a network or from my desktop using SSMS i.e., i connect to the above mentioned SQL Server using SSMS, it takes more than 60 seconds. Not sure how to solve this. The formats for SQL Server 2005 Database are different from that of SQL Server 2000 database and sp_dbcmptlevel does not downgrade to that format. I mixed this up with the other-way-round scenario that you can use a SQL Server 2000 database as-is (i.e. locked up with formats and features restricted to SQL Server 2000) by setting the sp_dbcmptlevel to 80 on a SQL Server 2005 Engine but not the other way round.     - Incorrect processing order for views Hi Greg I have tested as per your suggestion - i.e. I created a separate merge publication for all the non schema articles (stored procs, view and functions) - and recreated the other publications without those articles. All appeared to be going well until I attempted to alter a replicated stored proc (on the publisher). I attempted altering a number of stored procs, but each time the alter hung - and I could see that the alter SPID had clocked up up to 20 minutes of CPU each time. I checked this behaviour on my original configuration and the alters took about 4 seconds. I like the simplicity of a separate publication, but need to get over this issue to make it workable. I don't know if it is relevant, but the database had 3 merge publications previously and now has four with the new publication for the non schema articles.     - problem connecting Remote Analysis service 2005 from vb.net 2005 The authentication combo is disabled because SSAS only supports windows authentication, so all you can choose is which server to connect to. If you cannot connect this would mean that the account which you are logged in under does not have permission to connect to SSAS. If you are using a domain account you will need to add that account to a role in the SSAS database. (or add it to the server as a server admin) If you are not using a domain account, you can work around this by setting up a local account on the server that has the identical name and password as the account that you use to log on to your local machine. Hi,

There is an error output from one oledb destination which causes error to another which populated a table called tblFailedRows.

I have mapped the errorcolumn to the errorcolumn in tblFailedRows.

When looking at the errorcolumn in tblFailedRows I see just numbers not the column name.

How do I get the column name that causes the error
