    - SSIS SCript Transform Parallelism Hi, I need some urgent help on a conceptual question. Requirement: I have a simple package with one dataflow task. In that I need to read from a sql table and for every row in that table loop through n times and generate new output rows based on certain conditions (which are best evaluated in custom script as they are rather complex). Hence, if I have 100 rows in the table as my input, I may end up with 100*n rows as output. My Design: To implement this I have used an OLE DB Source which outputs to a Script Transform (ST). In the ST I intend to loop through in custom code and generate new rows using the .AddRow feature when I need new rows. This ST then feeds into another OLE DB Destination which writes the data to the table. Simple! I am using the default buffer settings. All I have tweaked is the Synchronous... property on the script transform (otherwise I do not get to the Output0Buffer within the script!). Problem: I wish to do as much as possible in parallel. So I would expect the OLE DB Source to provide more than one row at a time to the script transform and that should process more than one input row simultaneously. It seems the script componenet is serializing input, so it seems to take one row at a time from the OLE DB source, loop through and process in the script transform).     - SQL Server Express authentication mode greyed out Having problems connecting to SQL Server Express using 'sa' account and having read threds re problem and MS, advice is that Authenticaion mode needs to be set to both Windows and SQL. I have studio express installed and go to Security from the properties of the Server to change this option to use both authentication modes, however the options are greyed out! Can anyone advise pse.     - Table design question - subject matter expert database I would like to create a database that keeps track of our companies subject matter experts. I have roughed out some of the tables. I would appreciate any feedback on if this is the right approach and if there might be any issues when I start writting a front-end (probably VB 2005). What makes this interesting (at least for me) is that a subject has an owner and at least 1 "expert", possibly up to 3.     - Programatically adding a Timeout value for BulkInsertTask? I've searched around for a while and can't seem to find out how/where I set the timeout on a bulk insert task programmatically. Here is a snippet of code that works as long as the input file is pretty small....when I attempted to pump 1.3 million rows through the default timeout value was not big enough and a timeout exception occurred.     - File System Error after Restore Could be a lot of things. Make sure you are on the latest service pack. Make sure the paths listed are valid on your system. Make sure you and the service account have sufficient access to those paths. You may want to reprocess your cube and try again. Alternatively, you may want to simply reverse the database definition, deploy that to your other environment and reprocess it there.     - Parameter Valid Values I am deploying an rdl that is being deployed in a server.But i am encountering a problem regarding the valid values of the parameter.My parameters have dependencies,and one of my parameter comes out with two dependencies. Scenario : User needs to input his userID to access Book A. Book B needs Book A because the output will be depending on the its content. And Book C depend on Book B. Problem: when deploying, only Book A will have the initial value.The dependency in Book B is only one,which is fine.It shows its valid values.     - Help!- Image display problem with SSRS report in IE 6 I have a report that has both data and graph. I call the SSRS API to get the report in MHTML format and use Response.BinaryWrite to output the resultant byte array. I also set the Response.ContentType = "message/rfc822". The browser renders the data correctly but shows the image as blank I have also tried setting the above to "multipart/related".. but this doesn't work as well.     - How to execute a SQL query only once in a data flow task Would it be possible to delete the rows after inserting the new ones Usually when I'm faced with the need to "update" data in a destination table, I insert the new row, then delete the old on. My steps for this: I use a lookup to attempt to find an existing row. I send the failed lookups (indicating that this is a brand new record) to my new row processing steps (the main pipeline of my dataflow). I send the successful lookup output (indicating the row already exists) to a multicast. One output goes through a few steps to prepare the new version of the existing row to be inserted with a new id, then rejoins my main pipeline through a Union All. The scond output goes to an OLE DB Destination that writes the existing row key to a working table. The main pipeline goes to an OLE DB Destination that writes all the rows to the final table. After the data flow task, I run an Execute SQL that DELETEs the original rows based on the keys in my working table. Then I run an Execute SQL that DELETEs the keys in my working table.     - Custom Data Extension - Connection Problems Hi! (links are for people in search of information) I tried the FSI-Example. (1) It works on my Host in ReportDesigner. Even Debugging does work. (2) (3) So I deployed my Extension the same way. That is: I put the extension to "C:\Programme\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Report Designer\" (german system) analogous to the FSI-Example. (I am working on RS 2000) (4) Next I added entries to RSreportdesigner.config and rspreviewpolicy.config, right next to the FSI-entries. (5) If I do the same way of debugging like I did with FSI, it doesn't stop at the breakpoints. It only shows me the message: No connection to server, check connection-string and so on. The connection-string is correct, I tried it with the Oracle Extension. I also added the System.Data.OracleClient.dll to the ReportDesigner Folder, as my extension passes everything to a OracleConnection. To test my extension, I wrote me a sub main() and called the extension and made output to the console. It worked fine.     - Datetime parameter / Report Viewer I have a .net 2.0 web form with a report viewer control (RS 2005) and have hard coded the report server and path. The report has two date time parameters that have a default value set up. When the user clicks the calendar icon to change the date range, the page refreshes without displaying the calendar... The machine that has a SQL express database (Server64) is only used for the Generator, Distributor, and Provider. This Express database is not used at all. The Notification Database is on Server 58 which has SQL 2005 enterprise on it. Have you heard of any problems with this model or of anyone successfully using this topology To briefly summarize: I have taken a demo NS application and changed the SqlServerSystem Value Such that instead of running on a single machine (it was working on Server 58) That it runs on Server 64 and uses/connects to the SQL 2005 Enterprise database on Server 58. The problem is that I cant get this to work. I get about half way, The tables are created, the service shows up in the services viewer but I can not start the service (NS$Tutorial) Because I can not start the service the Generator and Distributor remain in Enable Pending Status. I'm using custom authorization in reporting services 2000 to restrict the users. To do this we created a dll customauthorization.dll and placed it in reportserver bin folder and performed changes in rsreportserver.config, rssrvpolicy.config, and web.config files. Now its time to upgrade our servers to SQLServer 2005. Now in SQLServer2005 what new enhancements were done with respect to security and what all extra steps should i follow to perform the upgradation with custom authorization. Please give me suggestions how to upgrade my reports to SQL2005 so that my custom authorization still works.

Hi,

The changes in Reporting Services 2005 are not that much except for the new Report Model and Report Builder. The changes in the reports are limited to some extra designers and stuff like multiple selection for parameters, ... .

According to me, you will need to perform the same steps to use the .dll as you did before.
