    - Report Header woes I am creating a report which consists of data in two columns. I've set the Body section to have 2 columns in it. This works fine until I start working with the report header. I do not want a page header that shows up on every page, I only want a header on the first page, a report header. I first tried to hide the header by placing it in the Page Header section, then putting in the "page > 1" expression in the visibility property. This does what I want, except a large blank space is present at the top of my report (the header is about 1.2 "). This is unacceptable. So my next test was to put the header into the Body section so that it only shows up in the beginning of the report. Because of this, I will need to remove the columns from the Body and make it only 1 column now. I decided to put the multi-column section into a subreport that has 2 columns and add this to the body of my report. But, this failed; the data appears in one column only. I can change the width the ensure it fits and set all other sorts of properties, nothing works. I've researched both issues and found that these are both "bugs" in reporting services, although I cannot find thedocumented bugs. Is there any workaround to putting a header onto only the first page of a multi-column report Other reporting engines are able to handle this with ease, I'm suprised by Reporting Services lack of a "Report Header" section.     - Dynamic SQL and sp_executesql Hi I have a SP where i search for values in a column and returns the results. Problem is, if i send in %word% OR body LIKE %word2% i get no results but if i just send in %word% then i get results (i know there are results since i ran a regular query (not SP one) and got the results.     - Service Broker "TO service could not be found" Message origin: "Transport" I am trying to send a message between to SQL Server 2005 instances on two different machines. I have checked all my routes and all my objects appear to be setup correctly. However, when running Profiler on the target machine, I receive the "This message has been dropped because the TO service could not be found. Service name: "[tcp://mydomain.com/TARGET/MyService]".     - Can i set somehow the package to have the components automaticaly updated? Help ... i'm lost I have one custom dataflow component in assembly A with version 1.1.0.0 used in many packages. The component is now in assembly A with version 1.2.0.0 but not changed. There is aniway to have those packaged configured in order to automaticaly be upgrated to use the new version of the component I tried (in this order): - set the property "UpdateObjects" to true on package (while version 1.1.0.0 was available in GAC) and saved package. - unistalled the version 1.1.0.0 from GAC. - tried to reopen package with "Reload and Upgrade" option. NO SUCCESS I know that can be an brute way to do it, meaning replace as text in xml ... but i try to find a solution not this stupid "workaround" Many thanx for any suggestions!     - Table transfer errors Hello, I am trying to transfer a database from one server to another using the Import Export wizard in SSIS and I am consistantly getting this error on 2 different tables so far. - Execute the transfer with the TransferProvider. I am transfering the tables to an empty database so I do not understand why I am receiving this error. I have to say that I am not impressed with SSIS at all. I know alot of developers think it's the best thing since sliced bread, however either I am doing something wrong or Microsoft needs to come out with a service pack that fixes these bugs...     - Query takes more time from user interface or in a network I execute a pretty big sql query which joins multiple tables and I reviewed indexes on all these tables. I am happy with the result when I run the query using SSMS in the server locally i.e., where my SQL Server database is installed. It takes 4 seconds to get around 17000 records. If I run the same query in a network or from my desktop using SSMS i.e., i connect to the above mentioned SQL Server using SSMS, it takes more than 60 seconds. Not sure how to solve this.     - Incorrect processing order for views I am using SQL 2005 merge replication with SP1 hotfix build 9.00.2227.00. This build is in use rather than SP2 because a fix I need is not yet available for SP2 Essentially the problem is as follows: 1) Initial state is that merge replication of table and views is working fine 2) I then alter one view which reference s a new view in the same publication 3) Synchronization processes the view scripts in the wrong order regardless of the processing order 4) An 'invalid object name' error results as the new view has not arrived at the subscriber when alteration of the first view is attempted The number suffixes on the script filenames in the snapshot folder do, however,appear to be numbered correctly so as to process in the correct order Note that I have tried using the default processing order and have also set the processing order explicitly using sp_changemergearticle - but the problem still occurs I have tried to recreate this problem on a small database with a minimum of articles, but attempts at repro have failed to date with a simple configuration - ie the processing order applied is correct Is there an known problem in this area Any suggestions would be much appreciated aero1 Tag: Schema (owner) Names Not Visible In Shapes On Diagram

    - help enabling FTS in multiple database Hi all, We have a remote server which runs SQL server 2000 DEV edition. We have 4 databases running in it. Our application needs the feature of Full Text Search in all the four databases. We have installed the necessary services. The problem is that we are able to create FTS on one database but when we try to run FTS on other databases the MSSearch service stops. on restarting it mssql stops. we are not able to do FTS on more than one database. We had tried the same in our local server but it is working fine. The only difference between the two is that the local machine are member server. Has this to do anything with the FTS Meanwhile the eventviewer doent help much, it just tells that the mssearch engine has stopped unexpectedly and it has done this 'n' time. The reason why its like this is because currently in my Data Flow Task, i Have a OLEDB source which returns 25+ column values, the source connects to this derived column item, and then finally the destination oledb where the mapping takes place. So basically I am trying to avoid MERGE JOIN, because i tried using it , and it complicated the whole thing much more then it really needs to be. Like the RecStatusCode column, i have 5 more columns which are dervied, and the values are coming from a SQL statement similar to above.     - SQL Restore Rights Hi All, I've got an SQL 2005 server setup with some databases. I'm trying to set it up so that a user can upload his database backup and then restore the DB using Studio Express but am having some issues with it. The user can upload his database fine, but when we try and go in to restore it, he can't view the directory or file of the backup. I've added the service account that SQL runs as, as well as the SQL2005%Machine%etc... user without much luck. The only thing I can think of from here is SQL permissions and I'm a little vague on how to accomplish what I want. One other thing is that if I add sysadmin rights to the user, they can see the directories fine. I tried adding dbcreator as recommended by other posts and that didn't work either.     - Permissions for creating views In database permissions I have granted a user rights to create a view. When she tries to save the view (even save as) it automatically wants to save it to the dbo schema and says she does not have rights to save to the dbo schema.     - Cant install SQL Server 2005 on vista.. Ok ive tried looking everywhere for a solution but i just cant find one... please help me I need to install SQL Server 2005 on Vista, but i have issues. I have installed IIS and its checked in the pre-installation checklist, and the only thing with an exclamation point is the OS which is to be expected. The issue im having is that when i get to the screen to select the features/components i want to install, they are all disabled apart from "Workstation components, Books online etc..." Where am i going wrong with this.. I know i need the services pack to install reporting services, but i cant install anything at this point. A walkthrough or something would really help...     - Activation procedure design I've been experimenting with Service Broker and was surprised at one aspect of the design: the interface to Activation stored procedures. I would have expected the queue to be a parameted passed to the procedure rather than having to hard code the queue query into the SP. In a system with lots of queues it seems plausible that the same activation procedure might want to be used with several queues. Any comments David.     - Replacement for Access Forms Hi, We had to migrate from MS Access 2003 to SQL Server 2005 due to some project requirements. We had used Forms , earlier, to enter data to the Access database. I understand SS2005 doesnt support forms. Can you suggest any other way of creating an equivalent entity as that of forms , so as to enable users to enter data to the SS 2005 DB easily. When reverse engineering a SQL Server 2005 database (using VS 2007 Professional), I can't figure out a way to display the schema name in front of the table name in the database diagram. For instance, If I have a table named Person.Type, it just comes over as Type. It knows what the schema is because it's in the properties box for that object. It just doesn't appear in the name on the shape itself. Is there a setting somewhere that I'm missing that will display the schema in the name
