Can you see if anything was logged in event viewer (Start > Run > eventvwr > Applications)

Also, can you check what the security settings are on your "C:\Documents and Settings\username\" folder (right click the username folder > Properties > Select your user name) and tell us which check boxes are checked (i.e. Full Control, Modify, Read & Execute, etc...)

I don't think that there was anything in the eventv viewer and i don't know how to check the security settings (i tried to follow your instruction but it didn't bring to those options).

When you mention you didn't know howt to check the security settings, which step did you get stuck at

1. Find "C:\Documents and Settings\username\" folder

2. Right click the username folder

3. Click Properties

4. Click Security Tab

5. Select your username from the Group or user names section

6. Look at your Permissions below.

there is no Security Tab

can you go to command prompt (start > run > cmd), goto your "documents and settings" folder and run the following command:

icacls username

if icacls isn't a valid command, try:

cacls username

Replace username with your own username.

And copy and paste what you see there for us. Also, by chance, would you be using a roaming profile

i would have copy and pasted it but you can't copy from the command prompt.

No, that's just listing the help. I need you to go up one directory to "C:\Documents and Settings\" and type:

cacls Josh

To copy from the command prompt, you right click anywhere and click mark. After you selected all the text, hit "enter". You should be able to paste (ctrl+v) the content into anywhere now.
