Does anyone know why Outlook 2003 reports a crash when you close it

Vista kindly says 'this program has stopped working' even though I have manually closed it deliberately.

I'm about one more crash away from reformatting my laptop and putting XP back on.... :o((((

Hello Glyn,

I have experienced the same issue, this is because the build of Vista you are running is a pre-release build. Inside these pre-release builds there are specific debug harneses in place to assist with reporting any errors no matter how small back to Microsoft. The reporting program, known as Windows Error Reporting (WER for short) assists us with developing better products. There is probably an exception being thrown when Outlook 2003 is being closed with the build of Vista you have installed. Though it is completely your decision, Microsoft requests that you submit any error reporting information to us to help make our products as great and stable as possible. What build of Vista do you have installed on your laptop and also what make/model is your laptop

Thanks!

There is definitely something wrong with Outlook. Another symptom is that when I try to export an invoice from Sage accounts version 12, into an email, Sage bombs out when it tries to call the .dll to generate the email.

I'm using Vista RC1. A 'ver' command shows version 6.0.5600

I have got my laptop set to send all error reporting information to Microsoft.. that's only fair, as Microsoft are letting us use the product for only 8 :o)

I'm using a HP nx7010 Laptop with 1 gig of Ram.

If you are on the Vista team, I had another major problem when setting it up which I managed to fix which you may be interested in also. The screen just went black. I had to plug in an external monitor and then install (downgrade) the display driver to the XP driver to get my display to work. It's a Mobility Radeon 9200.

I've got mouse issues too. I'll post a seperate subject for that though.

Hello Glyn,

This seems like an issue that should be reported through the Microsoft Beta Client tool. To submit this bug please perform the following: Click on the How to Share Feedback icon on your Windows Vista desktop. In the following screen, click the link that downloads MBC. In MBC, follow the prompts to submit your bug to Microsoft. Sage Accounts is a third party product, as Microsoft does not support third party products I suggest getting in contact with their support line for further assistance.Thank you for finding this issue and for helping make Vista the best release of Windows ever!

Thanks!

Ok, I've submitted that.

Well, the file transfer program shows it as 'queued' anyway. I assume it'll go eventually.

I've a feeling this is to do with Norton internet security. I forgot to uninstall it before I upgraded to Vista, and it's left remnants behind. Although I have removed of much of it as I can, you can't clear it completely, and of course I can't now reinstall it again to do a clean uninstall. Also, the symantec removal tool doesn't work with Vista.

It seems Vista doesn't have a way of clearing old program remnants that are incompatible. I still can't uninstall my old Gemplus card drivers either.

Regards,

Glyn.

Hello,

I have a problem with Vista and Outlook Express 2003. When I receive emails (from any source) they are not in HTML format. I've found the part in Options where you can change the format for sending but I can't find similar for receiving. Sometimes the email says it's in 'MIME' format. I receive a plain text email which is filled with symbols which go on past the message for many pages. Could someone please tell me why

Kind regards.

I have Outlook 2003 installed on a Vista box and I have one user successfully installed and operating. However, for other users, Outlook 2003 freezes at the "Configuring Outlook Accounts" step the first time Outlook is run.

The weird part is that one user works great but the other users have an issue.

All users have administrative privilages, at least for now, and all users are logged in through a MS Small Business Server domain.

Any help will be appreciated.

Since you want to keep asking the questions, I do remember something about profile creation/manipulation code, it's probably related to that. Any entries in the event log Have you installed all the possible updates

Re: Application Compatibility for Windows Vista Microsoft Office Outlook 2003

Outlook 2003 is being delivered through Small Business Server 2003 to the Vista box, so any available update should be automatically included. I attempted to download updates and install on the Vista box, but each update said that it had already been installed.

Where would I find the event log

Thanks for your help.
