Great to have you on board!

Here is where to find information:

http://www.netfx3.com/blogs/news_and_announcements/archive/2006/11/06/.NET-Framework-3.0-has-been-released_2100_.aspx

Download the .Net Framework 3.0 Runtime - which has windows workflow foundation

Then install the VS extensions - which gives you useful project templates to use in Visual Studio

Finally, install the SDK - which has samples and documentation.

You will also find other samples here: http://wf.netfx3.com

workflow Foundation is a part of .NEt 3.0 which was RTmed in Nov. last year. You can download .NEt 3.0 from -

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx FamilyId=10CC340B-F857-4A14-83F5-25634C3BF043&displaylang=en

For working with the designer aspect of workflow you need at download the VS Extensions for WF from:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx FamilyId=5D61409E-1FA3-48CF-8023-E8F38E709BA6&displaylang=en

To start with you can use the samples for WF which can be found at:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms741723.aspx

The more details for WF can be found at:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms735967.aspx

In addition there is a book - Essentials for Workflow foundation which should also be a good pointer.

Hope this helps

Thanks,

Kushal.

Kavitha,

Thanks for ur quick reply.

I have some more doubts.

I have installed netfx 3.0. Within 'Microsoft.NET>Framework>V3.0' folder @ Windows directory i have got a folder 'Windows Workflow Foundation'. But how can i check that wheather its framework 3.0 is installed properly. Also how to attach VS.NET 2005 IDE to use new framework 3.0. All these may b silly basic questions. If u can mail me some gud sample links it will b very useful.

In netfx 2.0 we need to attach it to iis using aspnet_regiis tool i didn't see any such tool there in netfx3.0

Hi Sreejith

Looks like you should have 3.0 installed if you have those folders. Also check if you have this folder - C:\Program Files\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\v3.0

VS should "Just Work" and start picking up the new framework.

What is not working for you One thing you could do is create a new console application, add a reference using VS, and see if System.Workflow.Activities.dll shows up...that will for sure tell you if things are in the GAC.

The Windows SDK has some tools like svcutil. The aspnet_regiis tool from v2.0.50727 is the one you want anyway. Remember .Net Framework 3.0 ADDS on and builds on top of .Net Framework 2.0. It doesnt replace it.

Did you install the VS Extensions for Workflow Look at my post below to find the location to download them. This get you the Wf templates in your VS 2005 IDE.

Thanks,

Kushal.
