In win32 you would use SetTimer API, documented at

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms644906.aspx

Thanks Paul for the prompt response.

Ya , I had gone thru this page earlier. But sorry not to elaborate my query earlier, I just want to call the SetTimer function with three parameters , eliminating the first parameter the windows handle , I hav tried with that I am getting some errors like SetTimer do not take 3 parameters.

I dont want to call it pass NULL, in place of first parameter.

I hope you can help.Thanks in advance.

I have tried this out using NULL as a window handle and it actually does work.

I was not expecting it to, as I was thinking that it would need a window handle to know which window to put WM_TIMER messages into.

I am using generic VC sample, win32 app, on windows 2000.

Call to Set Timer:

SetTimer(NULL,1,1000,TimerProc);

Thanks Paul for initiating your skills to help others.

Ya, it's works with NULL in place of window handle.

But my query is like , can I eliminate this parameter, I mean can I overload this.

I juts wanna give 3 parameter in place of four.

As I am very much aware that every time I have to pass the window handle as NULL.

and also I am sure that the timer can be set, without any window handler required.

Any more expert comments are welcomed.
