Hello Keni_me,

You can also make your command prompt go full screen everytime you run it by right clicking cmd.exe -> properties. Select the Options tab and select the Full Screen RadioButton.

Thanks!

hellow matthew Braun I wana just ask you .. how to make cmd go full screen I tried to do what you talken about  in properties of cmd.exe and I can't .. because there is no options tab .. but when I click right click on a dos program and properties .. and then I select screen .. and then I select full screen and apply it .. I click ok .. and when I run the program I encountered an error ..

this system does not support fullscreen mode. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

I have two options Close and ignore so I click ignore and it run with a regular windows and not in full screen ..

( I am using Turbo c++ 3.0 so I am programing a program that I must run in fullscreen mode .. and can't run in normal window ) so .. please I need some help .. :S I am sure that there is a solution

Hello Vista2007new,

What I mean is that if you go to start->all programs->accessories-RIGHT CLICK command prompt -> Properties, select the Options tab and select the full screen radio button in the upper right of the dialog window. I have also encountered the error you are receiving on my system at work, are you running dual monitors on your system

Thanks!

heey Matthew ..

no I dont have 2 monitors .. so do you think that this problem is not from the windows itself ..

The problem is that Windows Vista does not support full-screen dos apps regardless of what options are set in short-cut properties, compatability settings, or the command prompt's own properties settings.

This breaks dos apps that require full-screen mode to run. Unless there's some registry tweak or policy setting (Matt ) then I think this is broken in windows vista.

Perhaps we could try setting up a MS virtual pc... Then the problem i might have is hardware. I have a new laptop that gets its rs232 and lpt1 port from a pcmcia card.

I also use some oldschool 16-bit applications and I receive an error message statying the following:

"This system does not support fullscreen mode. Choose "close" to terminate the application."

some people reported that also dosbox causes them those troubles.

This is one way I have worked around the error (if you know another method please let me know =)

if you get the error, you must use Vista's "Standart VGA Graphics Adapter" video driver instead of your current one.
to do so..
¨dright click your desktop¡ú choose "personalise" from the menu
¨dchoose "display settings"¡ú "monitor" tab¡ú click "advanced settings"
¨dclick "adapter" tab¡ú "properties"¡ú "driver" tab¡ú click "update driver"
¨d"browse my computer for driver software"¡ú choose "let me pick a list of device drivers on my computer"
¨^in "the select driver" list, scroll down to "standart VGA graphics adapter", highlight it and click next.

IF your monitor goes blank, wait 5 min, power down your computer and restart it normally.
if it doesnt, wait til the driver is installed; 'close' and 'ok' the windows.
you might need to restart your computer..so restart it

if you want to get your old drivers back, follow the procedure, but let your windows automatically install the software for your system instead of browsing in the drivers list
