I've done a bit of research before falling back on the Microsoft forums and I'm finding the same answers and all are leading to no avail.

First, I've tried setting the BF2.exe to running as an Administrator. I've set it to go into Windows XP (Service Pack 2) compatibility mode. I've tried clicking and unclicking any number of combinations of the options to start the game as and all I'm getting every time I run he BF2.exe is the BF2 load screen after which my screen goes black like its about to start up the game and then goes right back to the desktop. My DVD-ROM drive is spinning up, the process shows up, it just stops working after about 10 seconds after the game starts to go on my PC. I've also went to the Microsoft website and mulled over the threads about getting BF2 compatible with Vista. I downloaded the Windows6.0-KB929427-x86 update and it told me my system didn't need it.

I'm currently playing on a brand new Toshiba laptop, Model: Satellite P105-S6197

The specs are:

Intel Core 2 CPU T5200 @1.60 GHz - Processor

2038 MB - RAM

32-bit OS

This is actually a developers forum but here's some suggestions.

Do the following files exist on your machine:

BF2.exe, BF2OPENAL.dll, BF2VoiceSetup.exe, TextureAtlasBuilder.dll - If they do then shims are properly being applied.

I'd recommend contacting the manufacturer of the program with the problems your having or directly contact MS tech support:
