NehpetsZero1

Hi all.

Finally yesterday finished downloaded Vista x64 Ultimate for my pc, it is build 5600 rc1.

Upon getting into vista and being very impressed with what ive seen i started to install the drivers and such, now i couldnt install the drivers using vista so i set the compatibility for Windows XP SP2 and the drivers installed fine

Unfortunately under the network area in vista it says unidentified network and the onboard lan cannot connect to my router.

whenever i try to renew my ip address nothing happens and the private 169 address is given to the adaptor.

Im using an Asrock 939Dual-SATA2 - This has a ULi M1695 chipset.

Does anyone have an idea where a vista compatible driver is for this chipset Any help appreciated!

Re: Application Compatibility for Windows Vista LAN Driver problem

Bill Wesse

Good afternoon - Bill Wesse from Microsoft here - I found the following driver listed on ASRock's Driver/BIOS download pages, indicating Vista compatibility.

Description: 'ULi SATA driver ver:1058f'

http://www.asrock.com/support/download.asp Model=939Dual-SATA2

The BIOS section on the page doesn't have any reference to Vista, so you should be Ok there (indeed, that makes sense, since Vista appears to be happy with the motherboard/CPU, etc.).

Please let me know if this works for you (or if you already have the driver installed, and it doesn't work).

Regards,

Bill Wesse

I have the same problem with the same motherboard and Vista rc 1 installation. I had previously installed Vista Beta 2 without this issue arising. The lan install from the Asrock homepage does not solve the problem.

I also have the same problem.  Same motherboard as above (Asrock Dual939), everything works fine under XP, but when I boot in Vista i get Limited connectivity.  If i keep changing the IP address and setting from manual to static, resetting the connection etc, after several attempts I *might* get a connection but as soon as I reboot, it's gone again.

It did work under Beta 2 for me too.

Oh and yes I have tried the latest driver from the ASRock website as suggested above, didn't work.

AmdRock

I have an Asrock 939Dual-VSTA motherboard and have the same issue.

Found a weird solution.

If I put the PC to sleep and then wake it up the network starts working !! Go figure

I can confirm that putting the PC into sleep and then waking it up again, fixes this problem with Vista RC 2 and ULI onboard lan.

I'm using a ASROCK DUAL SATA 2

Hope this helps someone.

Good morning - I have opened a service ticket with AsRock on this. In the meantime, have you tried the following driver It is marked for Windows Xp 64-bit.

http://www.asrock.com/support/download.asp Model=939Dual-SATA2
Lan driver ver:3.50

FYI: this is the base driver set for Vista 46-bit:

ULi SATA driver ver:1058f

Re: Application Compatibility for Windows Vista LAN Driver problem

Hi, me too - into sleep mode and then re-awaken the PC and it works normally.

Have just tried installing the driver mentioned by Bill Wesse (the one for XP64 - 3:50) and this didn't work either.

I booted the machine, tried to install the driver and got a message saying: No ULi Lan found! The installation then aborted.

I then decided to put the PC into sleep mode, re-awaken it and then try the installation again, this time it installed! But unfortunately the problem still exists after rebooting. :(

Thanks for escalating this for us though Bill, I look forward to hearing what AsRock have to say!

AmdRocks

Hi all I have a problem finding the lan driver for a ASUS P4R8L motherboard. Vista just can't find the network adapter.  I have tried the driver for XP but it gives me blue screen at startup.Help anyone

Re: Application Compatibility for Windows Vista LAN Driver problem

MadMunky

I've got the same from with Vista RC2 32bit & x64

Solution works if you put the PC to sleep just strange you need to do that, must be a simple driver error, I've also tried the latest ULI drivers from ULi and the ones on the asrock site.

Re: Application Compatibility for Windows Vista LAN Driver problem

Clearman

I've been running the RC1 x64 on my Asrock 939 dual sata2 mb with good success (after sleeping).

Just installed the RC2 x86 on the same system, and now I get the Blue screen after sleeping. Installed the correct driver from Asrock. Any ideas

Re: Application Compatibility for Windows Vista LAN Driver problem

nvidia support is now saying its microsofts problem and thats its not a problem with their driver. That sounds a bit like *** to me. All along when i've emailed them they said they'll have drivers out when vista is released. Now its released and they are saying its a problem in vista and not with their driver.

Since 5600 RC1 (64-bit version), I cannot reliably establish a network connection through my ASROCK 939Dual-SATA2 motherboard / Uli LAN Adapter.

To troubleshoot I installed an Ethernet packet sniffer to view the traffic present during the problem. In looking at the UDP/IP packets outbound from my PC , I see that the IP checksum field is always 0000 when operating under Vista 5600.

The checksum fields are correct under XP x64 with the same h/w and LAN driver where connectivity is as good.

ASRock's response to this:

---------------------------------------------------
Dear ASRock Customer ,

Unfortunately the ASRock mainboard you mention below does not have driver for
VISTA OS ,since the mainboard does not passed the Microsoft LOGO, ASRock
does not have drivers.

Please check under ASRock website for the models recommended for VISTA.

---------------------------------------------------

Is there a checksum offload expectation by Vista that is not correctly agreed on with the Uli LAN driver

Except that users with the ASROCK 939DUAL-VSTA are having this problem as well, and Asrock is promoting this board as Vista compatible. If it isn't really Vista compatible, then that's outright fraud, since the lan driver clear is broken in Vista and they have provided no updates for it.
