Hello Everyone,

I am new to 3.0 and to windows workflow foundation, i posted this in another forum but just realized there is a forum dedicated to windows workflow foundation so please forgive the duplication.

I have just installed the .net framework 3.0 and the extensions for windows workflow foundation on my machine. I have also downloaded a sample from the windows Workflow foundation site however when i try and run it i get build errors because my compiler cannot find the System.Workflow.Runtime.Messaging Namespace. I am wondering if i have missed an installation file or if i've installed 3.0 wrong or what, i have no idea and can't seem to find any answers on google. Any information will be helpful.

Thanks so much in advance!!

Erin

Hi Everyone,

It looks like the sample i am running is an old sample and does not account for the fact that the "messaging" namespace has been merged into the system.workflow.activites namespace. Can anyone direct me to some up to date and relevant tutorials or samples, i want to get started but would like some working code to actually get a feel for it.

Thanks so much!

Erin

Here are some resources you might start with Erin:

  • The SDK samples are here (fairly updated, though you can also download/install the latest Windows/Vista SDK to get them).
  • For a limited time, you can access .NET 3.0 training materials from the MS Learning site (including WF-specific content). Check here for the details.
  • There are some tutorial/samples here.
  • There are also some .NET 3.0 labs in the MSDN virtual labs site, though there's only one simple WF lab yet (but I'm sure more will come in time).
Hope this helps!

Thank you so much Tomas!

I am going to begin by taking a look at some of the reference materials you have given. I should let you know that at least one of the samples here is actually a dead link (just and FYI). I have not yet tried to download the latest SDK and that may be something that I do after i've gone through some of the other materials.
