    - Wow6432Node inserted into RegSetValueEx call I've been lucky in that my application (WinPatrol) doesn't do anything tricky that required special support for x64 machines. I've had a number of x64 users with no complaints but something appears to have changed in Vista. When I call RegSetValueEx and pass it my registry location Vista is inserting "Wow6432Node" into the string so the values are written to a registry node off HKLM\SOFTWARE\ Wow6432Node \.... Is this something new for Vista If not, it hasn't been a problem. Yesterday, I had a user report an error which indicates the same Wow6432Node isn't being added when I called RegQueryValueEx. This obviously is a big problem.     - During vista logon reset password link does not show up I have developed an application where I have defined my own credential provider that wraps the MS password provider. When I boot up Vista and at logon time if you enter the wrong password you get a small link 'Reset Password'. But when after I install my application the link does not show up at logon time.     - What do you do with a WorkflowCompilerResult? These are probably stupid questions, but I can see how you can compile a .xoml and rule file together using the Workflow compiler. Two questions I have: 1. If I am compiling into an output assembly, this output assembly will have my workflow plus any other referenced activities. I suppose the purpose of doing this would be to be able to change the .xoml and recompile and when the host referencing this library is ready to start the workflow it has a new version I'm just trying to figure out, what do you do with the output here, use it as a reference in the host 2. If I do a compile, as in question 1 but do not specify an output library, I assume it will just be compiled into the executable I am compiling from Like if I have a Sequential Workflow Console app. Thanks.     - Playing AVIs and DirectShow Hello I'm trying to develop a game engine using C++, and have been using DirectX... Direct3D, DirectSound, DirectMusic etc, however when I got to using DirectShow I got told Visual Studio.NET couldn't find amvideo.h. After searching on the internet I found someone saying that it had been put in the Windows Platform SDK, and something about it not being advised as the best thing for game design any more. Please could you tell me if this is true, and if it is true, why it is not suitable and point me in the direction of something that is I'm trying to display video files such as AVI and MPEG. Also unless I misunderstand the signing in system, I can't get on the DirectX forums redirection to write my query down on that forum because for some reason it seems to presume that everyone wanting to go in that part has an Xbox or something, which I don't.     - Remove installed ActiveX control from "Downloaded Program Files" area. Hi! I need to know how one can remove an installed ActiveX control from the "Downloaded Program Files" area on Windows Vista. In the old versions of Windows like 2000 and XP one could simply right click on the control and then select Remove from the Popup menu to remove it. But this is not working with Windows Vista Business and perhaps it is the same with the other versions of Vista (Basic, Home and Ultimate) also I know that you can remove the ActiveX control through "Disk Cleanup". But as I understand it this application removes not only the one desired control but all downloaded controls from the "Downloaded Program Files" area This is not ok for us since we work in a secure intranet environment there we do not allow the users to download the ActiveX controls to there liking. They have to call for an administrator in order to download or upgrade an ActiveX control. So if you at the time of removal must remove all the controls instead of that special one in order to upgrade it they now also have to reinstall all the controls that should not have been removed and they have to do it at ones to avoid the need for the user to call on them again for every time the other removed controls has to be reinstalled. At the time of removal the administrators wherefore need to have information about all other controls that are installed to be able to administrate them. This is not good since it will take up a lot of unnecessary time for the user and the administrator. It will obstruct the need for upgrade of single controls even if it is important and both user and administrator will feel reluctance to upgrade a specific ActiveX control. To conclude this! I hope that there is a way to solve this that I have missed. Otherwise I strongly hope you will consider introducing the feature of removal of a single specific ActiveX control from the "Downloaded Program Files" area in Vista. I un-installed a program, freeview DVB- USB TV software and now CD drives in general do not work. This is true for virtual CD drives as well. I'm running vista RTM. I've tried everything, from uninstalling devices, re-installing software, deleting the mentioned registry keys (in which case windows no longer boots). So what you are saying is when we dont have the ToolBoxItem attribute on it works fine right I can just suggest couple more ways to be able to understand where the main problem is which is, just have the custom ToolBoxItem class but dont do anything in it. Is it still working Just have the override and in the return call the base.CreateComponentsCore, is it still working Remotely thats all i can think of, but if you want you are welcome to send your application to me so that i can see if anything is wrong with it. If you are saying that it stopped working without you changing anythhing in the source code then you might want to try uninstalling workflow foundation and vs extensions and reinstalling the latest version via .NET Framework 3.0.     - How can I make a Parser Filter connect to the ACM Wrapper? Hi All! Recently I am trying to write an AMR Parser Filter, and I hope it can connect directly to ACM Wrapper. 'Cos I have the VoiceAge installed, so I can see the AMR Decoder in my Audio Compressor List. I made the connection using the installed filters to play an AMR file in GraphEdit, thus I believe the ACM Wrapper can work. But If I use my AMR Filter instead, it failed in connecting directly to the ACM Wrapper. The GraphEdit inserts the VoiceAgeAudioLibrary Filter between the two filters. And After I complete the filter graph, I can hear only ONE frame's Audio. And I don't know why. I also tried to force the AMR Parser Filter, which can be directly connected to the ACM Wrapper, connect to the VoiceAgeAudioLibrary. But it failed! So I have the conclusion: Though my AMR Parser Filter have the same output pin configuration like the one that can connect directly to the ACM Wrapper, its implementation might have some problem.     - Send reminder mail through workflow and log History for each activity Hi, 1. I have attached a workflow to a sharepoint list. I want to send out reminder mails to people at specific intervals, say every 2 days, if a particular column in the list is not updated. My question is how do I model my above requirement of sending reminder mails If possible, kindly provide sample code. I have onWorkflowActivated activity as my starting activity and have also included onWorkflowItemChanged activity in my wf, which will trigger once an item is changed in the list. I considered using Listen activity (with delay activity in one branch and rest of the execution code in the other) or wrapping onWorkflowItemChanged event in a while loop but am unable to get it correctly. Can somebody assist 2. Another small query is that I want to track history of all the activities executed in the workflow so that I can see it in the Workflow history directly. For this, I created global variable private LogToHistoryListActivity _logToHistoryList = new LogToHistoryListActivity (); and in every activity I set historyOutcome and historyDescription of _logToHistorylist but its not working. However, I am already in a pickle though, I have workflow instances sitting in the Tracking store that error out, when I try to use them. How do I get rid of these from my tracking store and then create a new Work flow instance which pertains to the new version and move my state workflow to the correct stage I try to force create, but getting rid of the version in tracking store seems impossible, even after using SQL to blow these records away. Hello

I am developing a DVD player application uses DirectShow architecture.

I could not get sound while playing DVD on Windows Vista.
No problem on Windows XP.

Even sample DVD player(PlayDVD.exe) provided in DirectX 9.0 SDK did not work.

Does anybody know the solution for this

I would like to share some additional information.

My application does not work.
DirectX 9.0 SDK sample application does not work.
Adobe Macromedia Director Project to play DVD does not work.
But Windows Media Player 11 WORKS!!
WMP11 seems to use DirectShow to play DVD.
What is difference between these
