Hi,

Is this from Vista or downlevel platforms

Does your scenario involve multiple machines If so, make sure the firewall is not blocking any DTC communication.

Check out the following link about the various security/network configuration you need to enable for DTC to be working across multiple machines.

http://support.microsoft.com/ id=899191

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp url=/library/en-us/cossdk/html/2627a956-60b3-4d26-bc04-e0676ec97786.asp

Make sure Network Access is enabled.

Thanks

Hi, thanks for answer.

The problem is that I have changed my computer and computer name in network domain and seems that this is the cause for all the trouble. Before, application on old computer worked fine and my colleagues have no problem with this. In a reply on a forum, somebody told me to log transaction errors and previous message contains the log text. I haven't Vista yet (XP SP2), but I can't wait to install it.

do you have any idea

Thanks

Ela

Hi Ela,

As the tracing message says, this is usually caused by some network misconfiguration.

One other option is to see what dtcping is giving you: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/306843/

You should run dtcping in both directions.

BTW, can you ping (using regular "ping" command) the two computers by name in both directions

Cheers!

Hi Florin, thank you for your answer.

Before posting this question I had another post: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx PostID=949124&SiteID=1 and before posting that :) I have read all the articles written by you and tried all tests :)

The message from dtcPing is : WARNING:the CID values for both test machines are the same
while this problem won't stop DTCping test, MSDTC will fail for this,
on the server to my and my colleagues workstations, but on their computers application works fine, and mine doesn't.

It seems that is a network misconfiguration but I did not know how to solve it, in fact our network admin doesn't know where to look for and me neither.Maybe you have any idea or solve a similar problem.

Thank you

Ela

Hello, to anyone who read this post ..maybe it is helpful

This problem did reproduced again after 10 months when network has been reconfigured. Another IP, another problem. But, although when I had the same problem in december I tried to fix it with Dcping and didn't worked, seems that today, when I've changed GUID for MSDTC in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CID registries and the problem is solved for my station. Tomorrow I will check on my collgeague station that doesn't work.

Thanks
