I am trying to run Test Case 7 and am attaching AppVerifier (3.3) to my service executable. My service never shows up in the list of logs in AppVerifier, but I do see a .dat file logged to c:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\appverifierlogs. This file is not the same as the XML file I see in AppVerifier and is much harder to analyse.

A couple of questions

1) Why can't I see the XML log file in AppVerifier for my service
2) Can I conver the .dat file into an XML log file so it is easier to analyse

I see dat files in the <drive>:\\users\<user>\appverifierlogs location.

They are not pure XML but somehow AppVer extracts the XML from the file.

I actually have several files (I presume due to many attempts playing with AppVerifier). The files are called myapp.exe.0.dat, myapp.exe.1.dat, myapp.exe.2.dat etc.

Is your code managed or unmanaged AppVerifier is a runtime verification tool for unmanaged code.
