We are receiving the following error:

Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {A14C86FD-F567-44CF-8C82-C3DB3AFA6570} failed due to the following error: 80070005.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {A14C86FD-F567-44CF-8C82-C3DB3AFA6570} failed due to the following error: 80070005.

ASP.NET is not authorized to access the requested resource. Consider granting access rights to the resource to the ASP.NET request identity. ASP.NET has a base process identity (typically {MACHINE}\ASPNET on IIS 5 or Network Service on IIS 6) that is used if the application is not impersonating. If the application is impersonating via <identity impersonate="true"/>, the identity will be the anonymous user (typically IUSR_MACHINENAME) or the authenticated request user.

To grant ASP.NET access to a file, right-click the file in Explorer, choose "Properties" and select the Security tab. Click "Add" to add the appropriate user or group. Highlight the ASP.NET account, and check the boxes for the desired access.

Source Error:

Line 45: Dim oSupportDLL As New SupportDll.CWebLogin

Some background information:

Server: Windows 2003

Standard Edition

SP 1

IIS 6.0

The DLL was written in VB6.

The DLL was registered on the server and placed in the COM + applications under Component Services.

Things I have already looked into and tried:

Everything I have read to date says to look for the DLL that is having problems under DCOM Config and modify the launch and activation permissions. The problem is, I do not see an entry in this area for the DLL.

We have a second server executing the same code and this server is not encountering any issues.

The only difference I have found so far is the server that is able to execute the code is windows 2003 R2 standard edition SP1.

If there is any additional information needed please let me know.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I too got the same error....

I added this line of code in the web.config

<identity impersonate="true" userName="Domain\MyUsername" password="MyPassword"/>

TapasChoudhury

yes It worked
We can add the username & password in the configfile
Or, we can provide the access rights directly from the folder location/IIS.
