Yasir Nisar

Dear All Hi,

I have some queries about where to place the Shield Icon of the Windows Vista on the buttons in my application. The buttons being used have already images on them. The control styles; that an entrty point marked with a Shield Icon can have donot not conform to my requirements. I read them in "Windows Vista Application Development Requirements for userAccount Control Compatibility" document. These are

UAC button

UAC hyperlink

UAC command link

Buttons on which I want to place Shield Icons are push buttons (Simple buttons dragged on a dialog), there is already a text & an image present on them which can't be removed. A suitable solution was to place overlay Shield Icon, but it is reserved for exe files only & developer can't maipulate it directly. Would somebody kindly guide me how should I place a Shield Icon on buttons in the best manner.

Looking for your kind response. Thanks in advance.

Regards

Yasir Nisar

Yasir,

If you are writing .NET applications, check out my blog article on exactly how to do this at http://www.buildingsecurecode.com. The article can be found at http://www.buildingsecurecode.com/2007/04/03/programmatically-displaying-the-windows-user-account-control-uac-elevated-shield-icon-in-net-windows-form-application-buttons/.

Thanks,
