    - how to remove all rows from a strongly typed datatable Hi, 1/ I have this strongly typed dataTable generated by dataset designer called. I call the datatable in my code documents . I have it in memory that I populate from MyTableAdapters.Getdocuments query. The purpose of my code is to empty the local databketable documents inorder to insert all the rows from scratch. When I do: documents.rows.clear then I try to add the rows again, adding the new rows again goes well, but when I try to call Adapter.Update(documents) , I get the error message : Primary key violation..... I guess it considers that my rows that I deleted using documents.rows.clear are still there, which is weird since the code allows me to add the rows back and only throws an exception when I try to update the database. Why doesn t it throw the exception when I am adding the rows in documents datatable 2/ My second concern: Am I following a good practice because all I want to do, is to delete all the rows in the Database table and add new rows. The new rows will resemble the old deleted ones but some details might change and some new rows that didn t exist before in the table might be added to the documents datatable. Thanks a lot.     - Using OWC11 on remote server I am trying to use OWC11 to generate graphs on the fly. This works fine on my local machine running VisualStudio. I then transfered it to our test server where it did not work until I downloaded and installed OWC11. I am mow trying to get it to run on our Hosted web platform where, unfortunately, I cannot install OWC11 . First I got the error relating to the web.config: < add assembly = " Microsoft.Office.Interop.Owc11, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71E9BCE111E9429C " /> that the DLL could not be found. I then added the Microsoft.Office.Interop.OWC11.dll to the bin directory of the website and this problem was fixed. My problem is when I try and use the assembly to create a chartspace object: ChartSpace1 = New Microsoft.Office.Interop.Owc11.ChartSpace() This line fails with the error: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {0002E55D-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} failed due to the following error: 80040154. I cannot get this to work. Please can someone tell me which other DLLs I need to include in the Bin directory to make it work.     - DirectorySecurity - Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation. Can someone please try to explain to my why this does not work. This program is being ran from an account that is a local administrator who can through explorer take ownership of any file and folder. However when I try to do the same thing through code I get the error attempted to perform an unauthorized operation.     - Exception: DataTable internal index is corrupted: '5'. on ... Hi, I have a problem with bindingsource component in framework 2.0. I have a combobox bound to a bindingsource which is also bound to a dataset with 2 related tables and a datagridview bound to the same bindingsource. What I want to do is : When the selectedindex property of my combobox changes, the corresponding cell value must be changed in the datagridview. But although the value in bindingsource changes, datagridview does not display the new value. That value is displayed after I move the mouse over that cell and make it invalidate its region manually. Another error I caught is the one that you can see as the subject of my post. I do not know why i have that message when I try to change the property of ((DataRowView)mybindingsource.Current)["MyProperty"] programmatically. I will be grateful if someone can help me.     - FAXCOMEXLib API and Faxing PDFs with Reader 8.0 Installed Adobe seems to have changed their command line interface between Reader 7.0 and 8.0. Faxing a PDF via the MS Fax API works correctly with Reader 6 or 7 installed. However, after installing Reader 8, the PDF is sent to the user's default printer, regardless of the fax device you try to point to. I have manually tested the command line interface with Reader 7 and Reader 8 to confirm that the same call that works with 7 does not work with 8. I have some applications and they are written in C# 2005 and some of them use excel Interop. The applications wont run the Interop.Excel Code on this system.     - strange behaviour of key() function Hi, I am using .NET 2.0 XslCompiledTransform As I understand if the second parameter of the xslt key() function is a node-set then key function returns union of results applying key functions to each node within the nodeset. So how could it happend that the following expression returns nothing (empty node set) < xsl:copy-of select = " key('Loops', $standardMapContext/xs equence/xs:element/@type) " /> And the following expression returns expected result < xsl:copy-of select = " key('Loops', $standardMapContext/xs equence/xs:element[@type = 'L_3']/@type) " /> The second expression goes right after the first one in my stylesheet. What I mean that the $standardMapContext/xs equence/xs:element/@type nodeset does contain an element with @type='L_3' but when I provide the entire nodeset to key() function it returns nothing.     - XmlSerialization attributes: difference between [XmlElement(...)] and [XmlElementAttribute(...)] While familiarizing myself with XML Serialization and controlling serialization using attributes, I've become confused whether there is a different between the use of "XmlElement" or "XmlElementAttribute" in actually writing the attribute in a class declaration, and in general for any serialization attribute. In contrast, I have seen other code that appends the "Attribute" part of the object name.     - Error generating classes using XSD.exe I will appreciate any quick help on this: I am trying to use xsd.exe to generate classes for a standard schema. I do not have any choice to modify the schemas. So if the tool has to work, it has to work on the existing schemas.     - SqlDependency timeout problem I'm on XP, SqlSever 2005, .NETfx 3. I'm using SqlDependency to get notifications of changes to my data store. My intent is that when I set up a SqlDependency object, that it will be in effect "forever". However, I find that after 2 minutes or so, changes will not trigger notifications anymore. I initialize the dependency once per app domain thusly: SqlDependency .Start(_connectionString); this ._dependencyConnection = new SqlConnection (_connectionString + "Connection Timeout=" + Int32 .MaxValue.ToString()); _dependencyConnection.Open(); I set up a new notification (once at startup, and after each notification) like this: SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand ( "SELECT Revision FROM dbo.ConfigData where [Key] = '" + _ourKey + "'" , _dependencyConnection); SqlDependency dependency = new SqlDependency (command, null , Int32 .MaxValue); dependency.OnChange += new OnChangeEventHandler ( this .OnChange); SqlDataReader reader = command.ExecuteReader(); reader.Close(); This will fire notifcation for a change that happens within 2 minutes or so. I have been charged with creating a mini web portal where customers can register a product and in return, get a activation license. I've successfully developed the app on my WinXP SP2 laptop using: Visual Studio 2005, SQL 2005, C#. I am inheriting an assembly that was written in 2003 which is responsible for actually creating the license. I call a function from this inherited .dll and receive the license without any error. Once the site was near completion, I migrated it to my Win2003 Server (standard ed, SP2). I registered my .dlls and added them as references to my newly-created solution. I then compiled the site and got the following error: Error: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80010105): The server threw an exception. It seems that when you regasm the assembly, it won't register the events interface unless you use the /tlb option. I don't really understand it that well but this fixed it for us" I then did this too: if you can't see the image: 208.252.199.41/images/error-02.gif I am thoroughly baffled after 2 days of searching, Googling, calling colleagues, reading blogs, etc. There is so little documentation on System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80010105) .     - define a new querydef in an access db using asp.net My scenario is this: I have inherited a large access database, critical to a website. I need to do some work on the site which requires that I modify a number of tables and create a few ne querydef so support the work. The obvious soluition is to ftp the db locally, modify the file and upload it. But If possible I do not want to do this. I don't want to lose data and I don't want to take the db offline. So what I would like to do is create an aspx page which I can use to do operations like creae new querydefs. How can I connect to an access db to do these kind of operations As far as I can tell, the regular OleDbConn does not allow me to do these operations - rather I need to use the access object model. I suspect there must be some utility out there on the internet to do this kind of thing (a bit like phpmyadmin).     - The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. Does anyone know how to have two versions of the same .dll file referenced in the same .net application Let me explain. I have an application that dynamically loads forms contained in other assymblies. The assymblies are in seperate folders with all of the .dlls necessary to run that form in the same folder. The problem I am having is that each of these forms use the same .dll file with different versions. I keep running into the following error when my application tries to open one of these forms: The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. I know that this means that one of my dynamically loaded forms is finding the wrong version of the assymbly needed for that form. I'm assuming this is because it's loading the assymbly for the other form. I am not sure why this is happening. I thought that if I kept the .dlls for the forms seperate in their own folders that it would use those first when loading the assymbly for that form. I have read other posts that would suggest that as long as my assymblies are not strongly typed (which they are not) that the assymbly resolution will look locally for the needed assymbly. My only guess is that since the .dlls that are needed for the form are in a folder seperate from the initially run application that it is by default looking in the GAC because it can't find it locally. This is my suspicion since if I copy the .dll that is giving me the problem to the folder running my main loader application then my form runs fine. If that is the case then I don't know how to make sure that each of my forms uses the correct version of their respective assymblies since I can't very well copy two versions of the same file into the same folder. I have searched and searched and tried everything I can think of with no luck. Any ideas If examples are needed I can see if I can post screen captures somehow.     - "Deserializing" XmlNode.OuterXml to object, then back to XmlNode questions My application provides a GUI for users to edit xml documents. The resulting documents are used by other automated systems following a shared schema. I figured I could cut down on the amount of code I have to write if I used XSD.EXE to generate classes for me to databind the xml to my winforms controls. The nodes in the document are originally created in code using a default namespace declaration which is explicitly declared on the DocumentElement. To edit the nodes, I "deserialize" the OuterXml property of the target XmlNode into the appropriate class created by XSD.EXE, and the user can modify the properties with databound forms. When they click "Save", my code serializes the classes to xml in order to load them back into the source XmlDocument. That code looks like this: Code Block XmlSerializer serializer = new XmlSerializer (xsdObject .GetType()); StringWriter writer = new StringWriter (); serializer.Serialize(writer, xsdObject ); XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument (); doc.LoadXml(writer.ToString()); // Retrieve the original XmlNode XmlNode oldNode = this .getDefinitionNode( this .metaData.Definition); oldNode.ParentNode.ReplaceChild(oldNode.OwnerDocument.ImportNode(doc.DocumentElement, true ), oldNode); It's ugly, but it works. My only problem is that the resulting xml comes with a bunch of extra xmlns attributes: xmlns:xsi=" http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance " xmlns:xsd=" http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema " xmlns=" http://superlongschemaurl " I can delete the first two easily enough with no impact to schema validation, and I understand why I can't delete the last one (it's the namespace identifier that links to my schema). What I don't understand is why the resulting XmlNode that I import above explicitly writes the xmlns declaration to the file, even though the node doesn't have it before serialization, and since the default namespace declaration on the documentElement is in scope for all descendantelements. When I create the original node in the application, I pass in the correct namespace for schema validation, but it's never explicitly written to the nodes in the document--the declaration appears explicitly only once on the documentElement and nowhere else. Isn't there some way I can associate the namespace with these imported nodes without it explicitly redeclaring it in the output XML I know it doesn't hurt anything, but there are literally thousands of nodes in the source document, all of which will be edited by the user, and these unnecessary declarations actually have a significant impact on the size of the file (which can reach into the megabytes all by itself). Any space savings is significant to performance in a lot of ways, so any input would be really helpful. (Also, if anyone wants to suggest an easier way than using XSD classes to databind Xml to winforms controls, but that still benefits from schema constraints like XSD classes do, I'd definitely appreciate it.) First of all congratulations to the team to get out the CTP!

Second one more new blip in the line of new things coming out of MS kitty. David I went through the site, looked at the screencast - probablly you'll are tore between shipping out the CTP and getting the site all prepared. But at least make a forum post or something which explains to a naive what is this all about, how is it different/complimentary from let's say WPF and Silverlight. Thanks - looking foward to reading up more on this...
