Ok, I will pass along the obligatory sorry if this post makes no sense at all.

I have a client who is trying to access my development web service through Unix. It seems they can connect to the Web Service but cannot return any data. I have very limited knowledge on the Unix side and it looks like my client has exhausted all their options, so I was hoping I could get some suggestions people in the forums.

What I would like to know if there is any other threads I could use as a reference or what people have done to connect to VB web services through UNIX. Sample code would be appreciated.

I have listed what I know below, I know it may not be a lot but is all I have to go with. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

My Server:

Windows XP

Web Service on IIS 5.0

Web Service Developed in VB6 (upgrading to .NET is not an option unfortunately.)

WSDL is accessible through internal web.

Secured Certificate - (Expired)

Unix box is within the same network as the web service.

When the client makes the call to the web service their Unix log file looks like this.

NOTE: I have modified the log to protect private information.

* About to connect() to dev.net port 80

* Connected to dev.net (999.99.99.99) port 80

> GET /Over/Over.WSDL <REQUEST><APP>88889999</APP><A><SSN>111111111</A><A>111121111</A><A>111131111

Issue they are running into is that even through the XML is valid, and I can make a successful call through SOAP 3.0 vb call the Unix client does not get anything returned back to them.

IIS Web Log looks like the following

Re: ASMX Web Services and XML Serialization Connecting to a Windows XP Web Service through Unix

I am assuming that the web service is an asmx web service. The request is a no Soap Get request. HttpGet requests are not enbaled on ASMX web services by default. Try enabling the HttpGet protocol. (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ccbk8w5h.aspx).

Hey Johnko! Thanks for the feedback but unfortunatly it is not a asmx web service this was developed, as requested, in VB6. But I will take a look at the link to see if that helps out at all.

Thanks Again.

Can't tell if this is a true cause, or just a typo, but your <REQUEST> element is malformed: <SSN> tag is not closed, plus final </A> tag has no corresponding open.
