Microsoft Lifecam 1.0 USB20 Drivers Problem

Dear Moderator/Friends

I have Desktop PC with P-IV Processor, 256 MB RAM, Windows XP Pro with SP2.

Recently my relative send me a Microsoft LifeWeb Camera 1.0 with Software CD.

As per the guide lines I installed the softwareware 1st. As per installation procedure I connected the Web Cam to the USB Port after installing the software. Then it started hunting me for driver files.(inf). I shown the cd path, Driver32---> Vx6000 and Driver32 --> Vx3000 folders also. But it is telling that it is not the correct file. And hence, my cam is not working. I searched this form and everybody telling that with XP their cam's are working fine without any problem.

But I am getting installation driver problem for my Microsoft Lifecam 1.0. Later I have downloaded Microsfot Lifecam 1.3 (Latest Version) from site and installed the new software. Result is same. I found some updates also on the Microsft Hardware site. I tried with that one also. No positive responce. My cam is asking for driver files whenever i started my pc. I totally un-installed the software and re-installed. No Use.

I uninstalled the USB Controller also as per site information. Re-started the pc. Re-installed the software. But my cam is not working. Asking for USB20 Camera driver files. When I put the cam into usb port the pc is recognising the hardware. And asking for driver files. when i show the cdrom OR recently downloaded software(1.3) files folder it is saying that they are not the correct files. What to do

I request you all please guide me to get my cam work. It is most urgent please help me.

I bought my VX-3000 just yesterday and running into the exact same problems.
Also running Vista I might add.

I downloaded the 1.3 software right away and after installing it (I choose not to install the Live Messenger software as I don't use it) it told me at the end to plug in the camera, so I did.
Then it said something about the INF file missing the section on the camera, so it won't install properly.

This is getting quite annoying. First I bought a Creative Livecam Vista which only a beta driver for Vista exists which won't install at all, then this driver which won't work.

If only Logitech created Vista drivers for my 7 or 8 year old QuickCam Pro which always worked before :-(

I have exactly the problem you have with the 1.3 software. I must be mad but I have now bought three products (two logitech as well as the lifecam) and none of them work. I thought at least if I bought a Microsoft product it would work. I have had so many problems with compatibility with Vista I wish I had bought a replacement XP machine while they were commonly available.

Well gents/ladies whomever is asking about the webcam..

I have a VEO Stingray 330v webcam installed on my puter and it works just fine! I got mine from Wal-Mart for about $20.00 or so. Seems your all's is missing a driver file to me, or a codec. I hope they aren't expecting you to purchase said driver seperately for that matter. The business you purchased it from, and especially the manufacturer, should make good with that missing file. Hope you all find a solution to your problem as money was spent so the items should come warrantied and guaranteed. If the product fails to operate, and the proper files are not produced, send it back and get your money returned. Buy one elsewhere. I would not take too long about it either so your warranty doesn't run out, etc.

No idea what is missing, but under Vista it just won't install.
Under Windows XP it installs just fine.
And yeah, I did try to force Vista to check the XP .inf file and it still said it couldn't find anything useful.

Oh, and try finding a Wal Mart in The Netherlands....

I have a LifeCam VX-6000 and was having similar problems installing the drivers on my XP Pro SP2 computer. I would get a message saying either my disk was full (it was not) or that an unknown error occurred. I happen to stumble on this driver pack: ICE1_2.zip that I downloaded from http://www.driverzone.com/device.php id=40226. After unzipping it and attempting to run the setup.exe I ran into my same problem mentioned above. On a whim I noticed another executable in the zip called setupstb.exe. For lack of a better idea I ran it and it successfully installed. I made sure before beginning the installation that my LifeCam was not connected. I plugged it in as the installation directed me to do and the plug and play installed like you would expect it to.

So now the webcam works perfectly. I will mention that the LifeCam software told me there were updates to the drivers so I took the chance and updated and installed them. Webcam still works.

This whole thing has been frustrating and I hope this bit of information proves helpful even though you have a different LifeCam model. Good luck.

Somehow the link your link links too (fun use of the word) get's me to a page from MicroSoft asking me to select my language in order to download the file.
That's it. Nothing else.

Try finding "ICE1_2.zip" from a search engine. I just did and it pops up in several sites including driverzone.com. I'm guessing I have a cookie set which is allowing the link in my previous post to jump directly to the correct page.
