Does anyone have any insight as to what is causing the photo uploader not to recognize any photos in the My Pictures folder It shows "No photos in this folder" (when there are) and when you change to another folder containing photos it gives a dialog box " There are images with a new format in this folder. The converter is downloading". Well, there are the typical jpg photos in the folder, and when the dialog box goes away by itself, it still shows "no photos in folder".

I've tried the whole reinstallation procedures, clearing cache, removing objects, etc. Every reinstall has the same problem.

Any insights please

-David

You should report this to the support team for Windows Live Spaces.

Hi David

Did you ever get a reply or figure out a fix   Seems like there are tons of folks out there who have the same problem, and I'm one of them, but I didn't see any resolutions.

Thanks

Russ

I have exactly the same problem.

I am running Vista RC1 - it may be a problem with Vista.

Have you had any success overcoming the problem yet

Grumpy.

FYI Update - For those who asked

I have gotten it to work from a different system at home that had XP Pro and IE6. The problem was related to 2 PCs in my home but still no idea why. My research on the systems where it wasn't working has gotten me this far:

It affects all OS versions that I have seen. I have tried with XP Home and Pro, Server 2k3 and Vista RC2.

It affects IE6 and 7

And still no response from anyone that has proven to be a definitive fix on those systems where it wasn't working.

All I can suggest for those of you who can't get it to work is:

1. to take those photos, via thumb drive or other method, to another system and upload from there

or for those of you who are a little more advanced

2. Install a virtual PC on your system and upload from the virtual PC (MS has free virtual pc sotware)

Both of the above have worked for me. Sorry for those of you who cant do either of the above for practical reasons, it was all I could come up with and, as I said, no one here has been given a "fix all" response form the folks who manage the Live services. Personally, I haven't updated my page in a while and will be moving to something else. The system is slow and the bugs, with no fixes, are irritating the heck outta me.

Later & Good Luck to all

Russ

Re: Problem Photo Upload Dialog: "THis folder has a new image format. The COnverter is downloading."

GrumpyGuru

I have a dual boot setup - Vista RC1 and XP Professional.

I had the same problem on Vista but when I booted into XP Pro, everything worked perfectly and I was able to upload my photos.

Looks like the problem is with Vista!

Grumpy.

It is unbelievable that this sort of error appears with VISTA and there hasn't been an appropriate response from support to correct this or indicate when a fix will be available. FIX THIS ASAP! I am seriously disappointed and cannot fathom that this sort of error has not been fixed before VISTA RTM'd. Ridiculous...

Add me to the list of people who are having this same problem under Vista.

My XP SP2 with IE7 worked just fine, but once I installed Vista RTM with IE7, it started failing with the same error as reported here. I was able to make it work by right-clicking the IE icon in the systray and selecting "Run as administrator".
