    - Doesn't VE already do geocoding natively? Just trying to understand how to implement a geo coding system into a VE map. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great. I did notice however, that if you use the map.route() function you can use lat/lon or an address to plot the route. Technicially this geo codes teh address to a lat/lon point on the map. Hello all, Today (May 28th) I have requested an invite via popfly.com I've also been to Aaron's blog and tried to bag one of his five invites on offer but it looks like they've all gone. Have I got any chance at all of getting an invite I'm putting together a Live.com collection related to a certain popular music festival here in the UK (if you know about festivals then you can probably guess which one) and I've got some ideas for gadgets that I'd like to put up there. Here's hoping... I'm trying to come up with a Popfly strapline. "Popfly...as cool as.... <insert something here>". Any ideas Someone suggested "Steve Jobs' pants". I didn't get it!!! -Jamie Oh, P.S.     - IE7 Crashing because of Windows Live Toolbar Same problem here...I disabled the "LIve Toolbar Helper" Add-on, which stabilized the system, but I couldn't use Form Fill...which is the only thing I rely on :-) I've disabled Smart Menus, so we'll see if that works.     - Map Boundaries // Using my own maps In the SDK, I can find many ways to return a pair of coordinates (lat, long), but is there a way to return just the latitude, or just the longitude of a point (most likely the center...) If so, how (I want to make it so the user cannot stray too far from the starting point, so I am trying to make it so that cant go past certain latitude and longitude boundaries) Also, how should I go about using the VE control to make a map of my own images I have a map, which is actually a map of a RPG world, and would like to make it easy browseable. I thought I could do this relatively easily in VE, but it is nearly impossible to take just the controls of the application, and use them for a different image, without getting a whole bunch of other stuff showing up from the world map. Is there an easier way to do this Right now I am loading up a map, and trying to make is so that the user cannot go outside the boundaries of my image, or zoom too far in or out, so that they dont see the world map. This is a bit too imprecise for me it seems, and I am guessing that there is a better way to do this. Thanks so much for any help you can offer, Cecchi MacNaughton P.S. It would also work if I could just add a plain black layer above the map, and below my image... that way it would appear to be my image on a black background.     - ASHX Handler and Ajax Hello All, I am creating a virtual earth map that pulls information from a sql database using an ashx handler. I know my ashx handler works because I was able to browse to it using I.E. and it gave me an xml document with the information from my sql database. However There are currently 59,227 items being pulled from the database. After they are pulled I need them to be plotted as pushpins on my map when the zoom level reaches a certain level. Since thare are so many points I know this will not work without AJAX. However I am only starting to figure out AJAX. My question is how can I use my current ashx handler with AJAX to get these points on my map without a server time out.     - Hello to all: microsoft Microsoft LifeCam v-xx Hello to every one for those who have the "Microsoft LifeCam v-xxxxx I found a work around that works 10000% 1st the driver from microsoft are no good and will not work right under vista closees msn error message etc, 2eme you need to install the drivers anyway because you nedd them even if they don't work. now get a program named "WebcamMax v.3510 at least "this one is made for vista. Once you have it install it easy when it starts it will do yo want webcammax via default say yes , now go to msn goto options config video etc now you can set up your "Microsoft LifeCam v-xxxxx" now mine works great it follows me all around tils moves up and down left and right centres all by it self super I hope MS reads this and just maybe they can come up with one but don't wait do what I said and you'll see it works SUPPPPPPER .     - 'Checkerboard' effect when using road/hybrid mapping Can you try to cross reference with a machine that has tiles working and see if theres any particular windows patch that stands out on your affected machine Can you IEToolbar/Firebug the tile to see which one your having difficulty loading I'd really like to find out what's the cause, and so far I've discovered that the checkboard occurs when zooming into fractional levels (which will occur over any machine).     - SQL Server and Virtual Earth Hello All, I am writing a DotNetNuke module using VB.Net that has Virtual Earth Pull Latitudes and Longitudes from a SQL database if the zoom Level is over 5. I have my function that detects the zoom level and I have verified that it is working function endZoom(e) { alert(e.view.zoomLevel); ViewVE.zoom(); } // end of end zoom I also have VB.Net code that pulls the information from the database and displays the information on the map, if the zoomLevel when the map loads is over 5. I need to somehow conbine these methods so that whenever the endZoom function is triggered it checks the zoom level, displays the information to the user if the zoom is above 5, and clears the map if the zoom is below 5.     - problems with Virtual Earth/Indeed.com You're welcome. There is a way to do pretty much what you have in mind. 1. On the Indeed Jobs block, use * for location. That seems to return all jobs. 2. On the Virtual Earth Recenter block, enter the value 1 for zoom. That zooms back so that you see the entire Earth. 3. Now Preview and see forklift jobs all over the world. 4.     - automatic image georeferencing in VE Usually working with gis software, I recently played with mapcruncher. Interface is great to place matching points between personnal images and VE. Is it possible to "feed" directly VE with the known coordinates (available for example in a tfw or jgw) rather than pointing manualy each tie point What we usually have is image top left set to 0.0, and we know this point coordinate is yyyyy lat; xxx long. These nifty little bouts of code allow you to access a function from a webpage that is not normaly available. Thats a great thing and like the Live Search, Custom Domains and a few other's on live.com it can be really handy. Does the Live Web Messenger at http://webmessenger.msn.com/ have a web sevice My current project is going in the direction of a a stand alone web service client! By using Live ID, my client is hopeing to authenticate the user (his employees), then the user will be able to access alot of diffrent online functions which will configure the application.     - Multiple OnGotRoute calls Ok here is the problem, I want to create a page that shows multiple driving directions, so for the whole day there is driving to point 1 then from point 1 to point 2 then from point 3 to point 4.     - no way of activating built in web cam (computer doesn't recognise it is there) I have just recently bought a new laptop with windows vista and I know I have a web cam built into the computer I can see the lense but I can't seem to access it anywhere in my control panel or computer directory settings, when I am on windows live messenger (msn) it doesn't even reconise that I have a web cam and there is no option to set it up. I got around it by deleting all my cookies and temporary internet files. Then I could get to my email through the Hotmail login. I am glad that I saw your messages. I quit using Windows Live for that very reason. I was about to sign up again in hopes that the issues had been fixed but seeing that you message is only a few days old, I think I will wait. Its on the list of possible new features but it is not supported at this time in VE.

If your just keen to play you should checkout:

You can download full source code and build some unoffical 3D objects in your own world.
