    - 3d e.latlong returning different values in newest ve download Here is the relevant code that I have been using to get the lat, long. I then use the Lat, Long values to post to a webservice to generate polygons based on the spatial intersection. I have tried the code in both IE 7 and Firefox 2.0 and get the values I mentioned earlier. This only showed up with the most recent Virtual Earth download. On a coworkers computer that still has the previous version, this function works as expected.     - How can I save a javascript array of points to a file on the server so I can use it elsewhere on the server like in C#? The answer is dependant on whether you use asp.net AJAX. If you do then it is rather simple: Create a web service that accepts an array of VELatLong (have to define the class in C#) and then saves it out to a database with whatever server side logic you like (agaists a username, selected a colour and line width etc) Expose this web service to the client javascript by adding the [ScriptService] tag to the service and [ScriptMethod] to this method. Add the service to your scriptmanager Now you can call the webservice in javascript passing the data http://ajax.asp.net/docs/tutorials/ASPNETAJAXWebServicesTutorials.aspx If your not using MS AJAX the you still use normal AJAX but call a page like update.aspx again passing the data. I actually encode my set of point to reduce the amount of data and also it makes it a simple string rather then an array of objects: http://www.soulsolutions.com.au/Articles/Encodingforperformance/tabid/96/Default.aspx pass the array of VElatlong to the javascript encode function and then use the c# decode to break it back out to a list of VELatLong.     - Windows live messenger won't open I don't think the windows updates are the problem, atleast not for me, my problem started almost a week and a half ago now. i've been emailing back and forth with msn support the whole time and nothing so far has solved my issue. it's completely non responsive now, i've uninstalled it completely for now since it seems that my yahoo messenger also has problems when msn is installed, once i uninstall yahoo is fine again. i don't get it at all.     - Commisioning Aerial Photography Hi Duncan Thanks for your reply. The cost for this commission would be shared across several projects and would not be specific to this website. There is already in place a (non web related) commission for some aerial photography in the local area and we were wondering what would be involved in taking some Virtual Earth specific photographs on the same 'mission' Even if we only got a single useable shot of the main Town Centre area it would be worth overlaying the existing tiles, many of which have changed considerably since the original photographs were taken. I do not think we would need to regularly update the photographs. The town has had a lot of development since the existing photographs were taken some 8 years ago. This development phase is now complete and there are not likely to be any major updates for the foreseeable future. I guess the question I am trying to ask is whether any aerial photography company would be able supply images suitable for use with Virtual Earth or does it have to be a company that specific have set up to take these sort of photographs. e.g are the 'specialist cameras' very specific to this sort of aerial photography or will existing aerial phography companies have access to them. Obviously I will discuss this with the company in question but I just wanted to know the 'right' questions to ask from a Virtual Earth developers point of view. Thanks again. Tag: Refresh Block List

    - Overriding CallABGreetingProc and ABGreetingProc I'm having an issue with overriding the CallABGreetingProc and ABGreetingProc methods. What I'm attempting to do, is have the bot skip the default welcome message, and process the user's input. But for some reason though, when a new user arrives, they have to say something twice for the first message to go through. I've spent some time working with the code you suggested and I'm having some ripple effect issues. Adding the call to GetMap in the <body onload> tag seems to work well and I'm going to try to roll with that.     - Linear conversations I also have a need like this...In my case I'd like to have the user essentially select a conversation when they first connect and then follow a linear progression with yes or no questions and possibly more feedback. (I'm thinking this would mean a separate domain for each "conversation"). I would have some kind of keyword they could use to break out of the conversation and redirect. Essentially my bot is a troubleshooter. So I need the user to tell me the problem they are having and then from there I control the conversation having them perform the troubleshooting steps and informing me when they are done so we can move to the next step.     - Features and Improvements for ViaVirtualEarth.com I agree with Brian, and in particular the bug register, that I am sure will aid many who are new to developing VE Maps, and prevent much frustration when code doesn��t work, as it should, due to a bug. It is interesting, as no one likes details of bugs being published. I remember Borland publishing a list of bugs in Windows 95 soon after it was released, which was shipped as a help file with their compilers. On this subject it would be greatly appreciated if Microsoft were to indicate on a bug-by-bug basis, when a fix is likely to be available. On this subject also I have found that different answers are being given, depending on whom you speak to at Microsoft. The sales people at Microsoft are particularly guilty, to the extent that some are quoting from a wish list, rather than what is to appear in the next release. This is serious as it disrupts future planning, software architecture design, and can lead to the end customer inadvertently being mislead. As with all these types of matters two-way communication is key. At present there is little, or no two-way communication between Microsoft, and the forum, in fact they appear since VE version 5 was released to have gone into hibernation, particularly with regard to the memory leak! I thought the VE development team where based in North America, or have they emigrated on mass to Australia, in which case they may be suffering from hibernation jetlag! What would be nice to see is a tip��s, and tricks section so that those developers less experienced, could benefit from the accumulated knowledge, and be productive quicker without so much personal R&D. With regard to the forum it seems to be working well, a central point of help I believe is important, and duplication would only confuse matters. The content and quality of the SDK I would say is mixed, and what the forum does show up clearly is where there are gaps in the SDK documentation, by the many repeat questions that are being asked over, and over again. Lastly I would like to say how useful ViaVirtualEarth.com website has been, and the many interesting articles on the site. Oops, just noticed something - mapcruncher can be run from the command line, so it might be possible to set up a script that periodically downloads new radar images and their corner coordinates, generates a mapcruncher config file, runs mapcruncher, and then overwrites the old tiles with the fresh ones.
