    - BOTS on MSN There have been a number of questions about BOTS in the forum in various theads so I thought I would provide this post with a broader update on the topic. MSN has recently started licensing BOTS on the network. The huge benefit of a licensed BOT is that it will have contact limitations removed (the reverse list), so that millions of people could connect to the same ID. Our goal is to enable a broad network of these IM applications integrated with other MSN services (Activity API, Search, etc.). To make sure our customers have the best experience with these applications and provide tools to the broadest number of companies seeking to build BOTS, we have started licensing ISV’s that build platforms with access to our protocol and having a 3 rd party certify their platforms. The following is the current list of ISV’s with licensed platforms for building BOTS on MSN: www.akonix.com , www.conversagent.com , www.infiniteagent.com and www.wisebuddy.com . This list will continue to grow over time and we'll provide on-going updates to the community as we add new partners. In order to run a BOT licensed for the MSN network it needs to be built using one of the licensed ISVs listed above and adhere to the MSN Terms of Use agreement. MSN does not charge an access fee for licensing a BOT. Since this is the MSN network and we are not charging for BOT access, obvious things that compete with MSN’s business are not allowed; such as integration with 3 rd party search or 3rd party advertising.     - Control position of pushpin hover popup If the <div> that contains a map is positioned relatively, rather than absolutely, the popups that are displayed when you hover over a route point are out of position. How can you adjust the positioning of these popups so they appear next to the actual pushpins, and not, as in my case, completely off screen. Thanks Tag: MSN help!

    - Problems with LifeCam VX 3000 software I`ve just purchase a LifeCam VX 3000. The software loads okay. I then click on the LifeCam icon on the desktop to start the program. But when the window opens nothing works when I click on them. To close the window I have to shut it down in Task Manager. Sometimes the window will open but all I get is the hour-glass icon which never stops. Again I have to shut it down through Task Mangager. The webcam works fine in Skype but I can`t get the software to initiate. I`ve installed the latest software from the Microsoft website. Thanks Tag: MSN help!

    - Catch datasource timeout Hi I thought that in my previous projects, if a data source timed out, the buddy said something like "I am sorry, but I'm finding it hard to reach that source right now, try again later" or something similar. In my current project, I can see that the data source times out by looking at the component views -> Query_Server log, yet the buddy does not say anything, just stops responding. Is there a way to catch the time-out and say something Also, I see posts about a "SetOnDelayMessage" function, can you tell me where in the library (in which package) this procedure exists Thanks Riaan Tag: MSN help!

    - ShowDetailOnMouseOver I followed the clustering tutorial found at http://www.viavirtualearth.com/vve/Articles/Clustering2.ashx and highly recommend this tutorial as it answered all the questions I had in the application I was creating. However, this tutorial was created using the Virtual Earth v 4.0. I am trying to upgrade to the 5.0 version but can't find a similar property "ShowDetailOnMouseOver" for the Pushpin. I see that the VEPushpin method has been changed to the VEShape class, but no luck on a "ShowDetailOnMouseOver" or equivalent property. Thanks! Tag: MSN help!

    - Saving the current conversation in another program Would it be possible to have a button on the current converstion window that would launch a windows application This application would then have the contents of the current conversation and could save it some where. The end game here is I need to be able to save conversations in my CRM tool. After a conversation I want to be able to click on button on the conversation window which opens my app. The app will search the CRM app for the using I'm talking to and then create an activity against this person. I'm just not sure which direction to go here with add-ins and activities. Any help would be great! Tag: MSN help!

    - Pushpin is not being shown.... I am trying to add a pushpin on my map and it is not being displayed even after reading all the articles on pushpin.     - Custom shapes I am trying to add a custom control over a number of locations on the map. This control looks like a little titlebar. When clicked, the bar grows into a dialog box with lots of buttons and stuff for interacting with the object at that geographic point via httprequest calls. I can make the title bar appear over the object by adding a new shape at the location and setting the custom icon to be the control's source html. Sadly, the control's event handlers no longer work. And when I hover the mouse over the control, the shape's description box opens. Is there some way to disable the description box from popping up Also, is there a way to get my event handlers to work Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Tag: MSN help!

    - Printing VE maps Hi, I am using my own customized dashboard & pushpins on VE maps. I am facing problem in printing the map with these these things. I mean dashboard & pushpins are not printing on paper, as they are background images. If I change the IE setting then I can print these images (IE--Tools--internet options--advanced tab-- check print background colors & images). But i cant tell the user to change this option everytime, is there any other option to resolve this Atleast customized push pins should print. Can anyone help me on this Navi Tag: MSN help!

    - Problem using windows live data permission system Hello, I am getting a warning page when using the windows live data permission system. I use this url: https://ux.cumulus.services.live.com/pgux/default.aspx rl=https://<myhost>/callback.html&pl=https://<myhost>/privacypolicy.html&ps=LiveContacts.ReadOnly (per http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb447718.aspx) and I have a valid SSL certificate on <myhost>. When I redirect the user to that url, the user can login but after that I get a warning page with a red error: "You have been directed to this page in error. Please press your Back button." And "If you are a developer testing out Windows Live Data, please scroll down. " When I scroll all the way down I can choose "Give access" and I am redirected to a callback page I expect and the response caontains an auth token. What do I need to do to get rid of this warning page, or at least the red warning on the page Do I need to use a different url Am I seeing this because windows live is in alpha mode Thanks for your help.     - Microsoft Lifecam 1.0 USB20 Drivers Problem Dear Moderator/Friends I have Desktop PC with P-IV Processor, 256 MB RAM, Windows XP Pro with SP2. Recently my relative send me a Microsoft LifeWeb Camera 1.0 with Software CD. As per the guide lines I installed the softwareware 1st. As per installation procedure I connected the Web Cam to the USB Port after installing the software. Then it started hunting me for driver files.(inf). I shown the cd path, Driver32---> Vx6000 and Driver32 --> Vx3000 folders also. But it is telling that it is not the correct file. And hence, my cam is not working. I searched this form and everybody telling that with XP their cam's are working fine without any problem. But I am getting installation driver problem for my Microsoft Lifecam 1.0. Later I have downloaded Microsfot Lifecam 1.3 (Latest Version) from site and installed the new software. Result is same. I found some updates also on the Microsft Hardware site. I tried with that one also. No positive responce. My cam is asking for driver files whenever i started my pc. I totally un-installed the software and re-installed. No Use. I uninstalled the USB Controller also as per site information. Re-started the pc. Re-installed the software. But my cam is not working. Asking for USB20 Camera driver files. When I put the cam into usb port the pc is recognising the hardware. And asking for driver files. when i show the cdrom OR recently downloaded software(1.3) files folder it is saying that they are not the correct files. What to do I request you all please guide me to get my cam work. It is most urgent please help me. Thanks in advance. Once again I request you all please help me.     - Microsoft VX3000 webcam on Vista Ok I bought this camera as it came with a Vista ready sticker on it. Now having got home I had to download the installer as the CD which came with it doesn't work on Vista. So I have downloaded LifeCam1.3VX and installed this but still, the camera does not work. I get the error massage: "Plug your LifeCam webcam into a USB port, and then adjust the audio and video settings. In the wizard, select a microphone and a microsoft webcam." But the webcam is plugged into a USB port, I have tried it in the many ports I have on my PC. Please could someone help me out here as getting very frustrated with this.     - Collection no longer working? I have a very basic embedded map that displayed an overlayed VE collection. Sometime last week it stopped working though I made no changes to my source page. Now, when a user loads the page, the base map comes up properly but instead of loading the collection, I get a message overlayed "Error: Unable to load source file". Here's a snippet of the source: <p>Our dive sites...</p> <div id='myMap' style="position:relative; width:600px; height:400px;"></div> <div id="txtSource" type="text" value="860EE197209E1905!162" name="txtSource"> <div id="loadCollection" type="button" value="Map our dives" onclick="AddMyLayer(VEDataType.VECollection);"> <p> I noticed that even the VE SDK page that I used as a reference when creating mine has the same basic problem. My collection still exists (I can load it on local.live.com) and I've tried plugging in other collection IDs into my page, all with the same result.     - Automatically refresh a PhotoTile? I'm trying to fetch images from a web page which constantly gets updated with new images and then have these images displayed within a PhotoTile or similar block with the help of a timer. But the ImageScraper block doesn't seem to update with the new images, nothing actually happens, and when I leverage the DirectImageScraper it just adds images to the already existing ones.     - Windows live Messenger sending out virus I mistakenly clicked on a zip file that was suppose to bea picture yesterday from a friend and when I went to run it, there was know picture. Insstead it keeps sending out the same file to everyone on my friends list. I ran avg and its not a virus. It seems like its only effecting window live messenger.     - GeoRSS file not rendering in IE I have used the MSDN and SDK methods for using GeoRSS layers. It renders perfectly in Firefox but for some reason - I have not yet found - it will not render in IE6.     - API for Windows Live Messenger functionalities such as Intant Messaging and Presence? I am planning to develop an application that will leverage Windows Live services.     - Draggable Pushpins Hi, I want to put a pushpin on the map. And this pushpin should be draggable. So that when user drag this pushpin, its shows the longitude & latitude of that point & as the pushpin drags from one point to another, respected longitude & latidude value get visible.     - Help starting up Hey! I am really interested in having Windows Live ID part of my website. I have read almost all the information on it and im a little stuck. I host my website with a company which uses cPanel, so there is the only place i can change settings ect.     - MSN Adcenter API Errors I realize the API is still young, but the MSN Adcenter API errors out and/or lags behind much more frequently then Google or Yahoo. Also, for us larger advertisers, having to call each account individually rather then being able to pull reports for an entire portfolio can cause further programming headaches. The contest ran from May 15th to September 15th and in the end 53 Messenger bots were accepted as valid entries in the contest ( per the how to compete guidelines ). Each entry to the contest was judge by three judges separately using the Judging Criteria outlined on the How to Compete page and then the judges scores were averaged. This is really bothering me: I can't seem to sign in on msn. I've tried it, but all that happens, is I get disconnected and can't sign in again. I created a new email, but it happened to that one too. Help!
