Hi,

I was wondering if there's support in the VE SDK to animate between pushpins. Let's say I have three pushpins in 1. Madrid, 2. New York and 3. Seattle ... I have all of them connected through lines. What I'm trying to do is moving from pushpin 1 to pushpin 2, animating the map as if the user was dragging it.

Is there any way to do this

Thanks in advance

Miguel Jimenez

Unfortunately no, the route polyline is just a combination static image being added in div tags

Hmm, you mean the line that connects both pushpins

If so, that line is there just for design purposes, not actually representing anything but the connection between two points.

But can I move the map from one coordinate to another one I guess it would jump from one to another, but maybe it's possible to develop a small implementation of bresenham's line algorithm to move the map across a line between the two points.

Don't have it clear enough, just guessing about the possibilities :)

You could try putting pushpin downs (represented as images that look like lines) and then deleting them sequentially

When deleting pushpins it moves the map to that pushpin This can be great, transparent pushpins across the line connecting both points (not too many of them, maybe ten pushpins) can simulate the effect.

I'll try this and let you know by posting there the results ... Thanks!!

Yeah, VE will crash if you put 200+ pushpins on the map so beware of that limitation.  You could also use a timer.delay() to delay putting your pins down appropriately

Uh

VE crashes with 200+ pushpins Since when does that happen to you

I often have far more pins and all runs fine (depending on your computar speed).

give map.pan(x,y) a go to animate the map. Or there is one for a lat/long as well - setmapview

in fact in 3d mode you can also change altitude and heading.

Checkout the custom tile layers we took over Australia on Australia Day fully animated in a live.com Gadget, just add this to your live.com homepage:

If you wait 15sec it does a nice slow pan across the areas and then onto the next satellite location.
