I'm so SICK of those new "better" versions! This morning, just after 12, it said i had to upgrade, however it didn't upgrade because of i'm not admin on vista, anyway, i left it as i needed some sleep and was going sort it this morning. I just came on, expecting it to tell me to upgrade again, however to my suprise it's letting me use MSN 7.5, i don't know if it's not forcing you anymore, but it's sure not forcing me to upgrade now Tag: windows messenger in lan
2 displays in 1 mashup Here is what I'm trying to build: 1 entry field would feed 2 searches : * 1 for pictures * 1 for hotels or restaurants (I get that from a RSS feed) Then if you enter "Eiffel Tower" in the entry field you would see pictures of the Eiffel Tower from Flickr and restaurant next to the Eiffel Tower. I know how to do that separatly, but is there a way to have that on 1 mashup Thanks for helping me. Gautier Tag: windows messenger in lan
Displaying Traffic Info I am new to using Virtual Earth. I have played around with displaying locations of our service calls on a Virtual Earth map. Now we want to be able to create a page that will display a map with the Traffic information just like this page: http://local.live.com/default.aspx v=2&cp=42.206142~-71.006012&style=r&lvl=9&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&scene=1262317&trfc=1&encType=1
We just want the map though. If we could display that exact information on a blank page that would be great.
I havent found any documentation on how to show this traffic information. Specifically the green, yellow, and red information based on traffic. Could someone point me in the right direction for this if it is even possible Tag: windows messenger in lan
Maintaining state Yeah, context can be the same page, but it doesn't have to be. If the user leaves your site without logging out or closing hte browser, Your token will stil be valid. So if they want to go to a specific page on your site, they should be able to, because they are still validated. While I haven't actually tested if the context needs to be the same the one from appctx, I would think it should be the page the user came back to. Tag: windows messenger in lan

SubmitOrderForApproval fails with -100595 Hi, once we have called the SubmitOrderForApproval method, we have no simple way to get the status of an order and check if it is still "Draft". We need to call GetOrders to get all orders of a given campaign and loop through all orders until we find the one we want to retrieve the status. How about a GetOrderById method I don't think it would be too complicated to implement on your end and it will make things much easier for us! Thanks. Tag: windows messenger in lan
Change P4 Window title/Reprovision an Activity Possibly, you were given the App ID to the Activity before it was provisioned, i.e. before it was made available to Messenger clients. Generally, provisioning takes a couple of days at least. Tag: windows messenger in lan
Any way to animate between pushpins? When deleting pushpins it moves the map to that pushpin This can be great, transparent pushpins across the line connecting both points (not too many of them, maybe ten pushpins) can simulate the effect.
I'll try this and let you know by posting there the results ... Thanks!! Tag: windows messenger in lan
Pushpin popup going blank when swapping to 3D Kym, Try encasing your content inside of a <div> tag and then apply the CSS class to that particular div by referencing an external .CSS file. Something like: VEShape.SetDescription("<div class='myCSSClass'>This is the text inside the description box</div>"); Tag: windows messenger in lan
VEpushpin -Infobox var storeLocation = new VELatLong(myData .SiteLatitude,myData .SiteLongitude); _shape = new VEShape(VEShapeType.Pushpin, storeLocation); imageNumber = count; _shape.SetCustomIcon(_geApplicationRoot+"/Images/StoreLocator/Icons/"+imagename+imageNumber+".gif"); _shape.SetTitle("<h2>Giant Eagle</h2>"); _shape.SetDescription(_infobox); _map.AddShape(_shape); _map.SetCenter(storeLocation);
Above is the sample of the code which keeps the pushpin on the map Tag: windows messenger in lan
vista and live messenger Hmmm.... I have an Acer desktop (surely a coincidence) and same problem.
Some people have success by uninstall and then get latest Adobe Flash player (v9) installed first and re-install Messenger.
Can't see how that would help myself.
You can always use the client via the Internet http://webmessenger.msn.com/
Failing that try installing Messenger 7.5 - so it is not the latest version but at least it seems to be more stable than version 8.1!
Nothing on TechNet yet but I can't believe MS have shot themselvces in the foot this badly!
Good luck,

Windows Live Mail Desktop BETA Syncronize problems I've downloaded the latest build but I still can't get my Hotmail account to synchronise. My Gmail and Yahoo accounts are working perfectly.
I know when new messages arrive but the message body does not display, instead I get this message:
"Message could not be displayed
Windows Live Mail desktop beta encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this message. Check your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again."
When I press Send/Receive, I get this message:
"Windows Live Mail desktop could not download the requested message. There is an error synchronizing your mail account. Please verify your account has been configured correctly by first accessing your mail on the web. Subject 'RE: [SPAM: 3.000] Visa renewal', Server: 'http://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v1.0.0/sync.aspx', Protocol: HTTPMail, Port: 80, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 204, Error Number: 0x8DE00003"
Please help if anyone knows what I can do! Thanks Tag: windows messenger in lan
User Input Blocks I'm not sure I understand why this would yield the results I'm seeing. If I create a mashup that has only the Stock Quotes block, the data is returned properly consistenly regardless of what ticker symbol I use.
However, when I pass data to the Stock Quotes block from the UserInput block, that's when the trouble starts. That would indicate to me that the problem exists in the passing of information betweem the two Popfly blocks and not the web service call. Am I missing something (probably)

There are so many bugs with V6 that I am surprised people can actually use it. Tag: windows messenger in lan
How can I save a javascript array of points to a file on the server so I can use it elsewhere on the server like in C#? John,
I'm not using AJAX and your article on encoding was great, but I wonder, how do I pass the data to the update.aspx page. If if was the same page I would have used a hiddenfield to pass the data from client JavaScript to server-side C#, but to another page... Well, after encoding, perhaps add it the the page's querystring, or what

Commisioning Aerial Photography Yeah if Rob can help he has written several great articles on tile servers.
We worked with Microsoft Australia to get some aerial photography over three locations back in Jan for Australia Day.
The photography should come back as a north aligned geotiff from the supplier. I don't know what the cost was but once you have this for a small area map cruncher is great to correct any alignments and generate all the required tiles yourself.
For another project we build a tile generator that takes a folder of geoTiffs and processes all the required tiles from a farm of computers. For large areas with high resolution files it is too hard and slow to do it by hand with map cruncher.
Another issue is hosting all the tiles, the latest version of map cruncher supports uploading direct to amazon S3. This is a very cost effective way to store and serve the data, although i hear mixed reviews of it performance.
If you need any help with processing the geoTiff files please let me know.

Overriding CallABGreetingProc and ABGreetingProc I'm having an issue with overriding the CallABGreetingProc and ABGreetingProc methods.
What I'm attempting to do, is have the bot skip the default welcome message, and process the user's input.
But for some reason though, when a new user arrives, they have to say something twice for the first message to go through.
I know that this is something stupidly easy, but for some reason I just can't get it to work.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Live Alerts SDK - auto subscribe bot user? Hi,
I have access to a Live Alerts SDK account, and since our company creates MSN chatbots, I was wondering if the following is possible:
I would like a bot's user be subscribed to an Alerts group automatically. Of course the bot first asks the user for confirmation "Would you like to receive the latest news via Live Alerts "
I understand from the SDK docs that subscribing someone to alerts first requires a redirect to the sign-up page hosted on Live Alerts, in a browser . Is there really no other way
What if my sign-up application would run inside a Messenger Activity. Could I somehow get the user's Live ID (since he already signed in on Messenger) and use that data to subscribe the user to an Alerts feed, all the time staying inside the Activity window I prefer to not bother the end-user with any sign-in forms. I hope there is some possibility , because in my opinion combining bots and alerts in a transparent fashion offers very powerful possibilities for developers.
Thanks in advance for any ideas or suggestions. Tag: windows messenger in lan
How does one actually use the filters? Oleg, have a look at this article here: http://www.vsj.co.uk/articles/display.asp id=654 . All in all there are three methods of authentication: Domain Authentication, Mutual SSL Authentication and RPS (Relying Party Suite) Authentication. First one is not working at the moment, as the service, which is in alpha version, is "temporarily unavailable", second requires special SSL certificate. I have successfully retrieved the auth.token using RPS method, which involves SOAP. Tag: windows messenger in lan
Calling GetRoute() from script in <body> rather than in <body onload=...> I'm trying to determine if there is a way to call the GetRoute() method from script that is embedded in the <body> of the page rather than in the <body onload=...> tag. Here are the two simplest map examples I've been able to construct to illustrate this idea. The second version doens't load in IE but works fine in Firefox. I get the following error in IE -
--------------------------- Error --------------------------- A Runtime Error has occurred. Do you wish to Debug
Line: 1 Error: Unexpected call to method or property access. --------------------------- Yes No ---------------------------
Can anyone help me understand why this is happening in IE and if there is a workaround. I don't control the whole construction (html is built by JSP that is owned by someone else) and the onload tag may prove to be tricky.
Thanks very much!
Bart
Version 1 (Works in IE and Firefox):
<html> <head> <META http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <title>GetRoute Error</title> <script src=" http://dev.virtualearth.net/mapcontrol/v3/mapcontrol.js"></script > <script> function GetMap(){ map = new VEMap("sl_sr_map"); map.LoadMap(); map.GetRoute( '55419', '55403'); }; </script> </head> <body onload="GetMap();"> <div id="sl_sr_map"></div> </body> </html>

Changes in AdCenterOrder? Hi,
The CustomerManagement WSDL change (to include couponCode) was communicated in November. The change is reflected in the API topic at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa983133.aspx .
The targetExists issue for AdCenterOrder is currently under review. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Thank you.

random script errors in the api code over past 2 days Again do you have a snippet of VE code to replicate this
I often get errors in the VE API code but they are caused by my code not suppling the right objects etc.
Something like Firebug can let you follow the effective "stack trace" to ensure what your code called and the supplied parameters are as per spec.
