IE crashing when adding pushpins to my site in 3D mode !

I can load my page in 2d mode with pushpins on, but when I change to 3d mode the IE crashes, any ideas on way this is happening, I can load the map, but when I have the pins on it¡¯s not working in 3d.

Her is the some of the code for adding the pushpins, it¡¯s about 50 pins.

The variables are of course not null.

An IE crash is typically due to an issue with video drivers or other browser add-ins conflicting with the 3D control loading.

You can output a log file of the exception which will help narrow down what the issue is.

C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\Microsoft\Virtual Earth 3D (on Vista it's slightly different, it's under Users/LocalLow).

You should see a file named user.config. Open in any text editor (like notepad) and add the following lines immediately after <Microsoft.MapPoint.Rendering3D.Properties.Settings>:

<setting name="Logging" serializeAs="String">

<value>True</value>

</setting>

When you start the app the next time, a log file will be created in the directory:

C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Virtual Earth 3D

Post the log file when you're done.

On Vista, your log file will be created in

C:\Users\UserName\AppData\LocalLow\Microsoft\VirtualEarth3D

Okay now I am confused.

First of all I know where the log file should have been, and it¡¯s not there, sorry.

And when I go to map.live.com and hit the 3D button there is no problem at all.

I have try to reinstall the Virtual Earth 3D (Beta) then I get an error ¡°Installation failed, check the log file for more information¡±, there is no log file. ¡°There is no spoon¡±.

I'm not sure I understand what issue you're running into now. You said "when I go to map.live.com and hit the 3D button there is no problem at all"

But then you say there is an issue during install. The instructions I gave before were for logging a crash when 3D was running. If you are having trouble getting the install to run, then there won't be any config file or runtime log.

If you are having trouble installing, the install log will be at c:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp on a Vista machine.

You can also try running the setup directly from the link instead of using the CAB. The CAB may be blocked depending on IE settings.

Some time ago I did manage to install VE.

My post before, I was trying to test if I was able to see 3D mode at all, and I tried the 3D button on the main site map.live.com, and 3D worked fine on map.live.com.

But my issue is that I can¡¯t use the 3D button on my site test.rcheli.dk, IE goes in some kind of infinity loop when I hit the 3D button on test.rcheli.dk.

In my effort in trying to solve this issue I was trying to reinstall the VE on my computer, but that didn¡¯t work, but thanks to you, I found the installation log, and I found the location of the VirtualEarth3D.msi file, and I was able to download and uninstall the old version and install again. But no success with 3D mode.

My current status: 3D button is still not working on my site, and I can¡¯t find any error log file in C:\Users\UserName\AppData\LocalLow\Microsoft\VirtualEarth3D and the logging settings is still set to true.

Are there any option on running this VE on a debug mode or something like that

Your site loads normally in 3D for me, it could be an issue with your locale settings, or a browser extension you have installed.

What locale settings do you run

What do you see when you click 3D

Does it get past the loading circle and start displaying a 3D globe

Do you get any of the script callbacks (OnModeChange, OnModeNotAvailable)

If you construct the map control in 3D mode, does it come up

When you say it goes into an infinite loop, is that because the UI thread becomes unresponsive

Can you be more specific about the local settings, what settings

Yes I get past the loading circle and I can see the map but I can¡¯t click anything.

The script call back I am not sure, I haven¡¯t tested but I would not think so, because it's freezing IE.

If I try to construct the map in 3D mode the same thinks happens, it load some of the map and then I just stops.

Yes the UI becomes unresponsive and the CPU is running 100% all the time.

By locale settings, I mean what OS local and language settings: (something like Vista x86 French, language Fr-Belgian). If the http://maps.live.com site is working correctly for you, then locale settings are probably not the issue.

It sounds like there could be some conflict with another browser plug-in or possibly AV software that you have installed.

Okay I want to thank you for your support, it seem like I have to do some trial and error testing here, do you have any input on have many client have this issue or similar issues that causes the Map site not to work in 3D Because if it¡¯s a problem on a lot of client I don¡¯t want to activate the 3d mode on my site.
