I thought it would be nice to link Messenger to our Continuous Integration server (CruiseControl.NET).

I've managed to get it to produce an RSS feed for the build of each project on the server, but I'm not sure if this is suitable to register through the free RSS signup

The feeds are only on our intranet.

Would I be better off looking at the SDK, or is this not really what the Alerts feature is intended for

thanks,

-dave

Hi David,

That's an awesome feature.

I think you could go either way...if you've written the rss feed already then using the non-code version would be easier for you.

But if you want to personalise the messages for toast, mail, and mobile and add your own icons etc (maybe the product logo) then you should use the sdk. You can then just programatically choose when to send the report (or link to the report) when the builds are finished etc.

I'm still not clear as to whether this will ever work.

I've tried to set up the feed using the signup page, but I think it is trying to verify the feed, which won't work as it is an intranet feed (not visible on the Internet).

I'll have a look at the SDK, but please let me know if this will suffer from the same restriction.

ps. Nice job with your Virtual Earth talk at TechEd

Sorry...you did say intranet..my bad for not reading it properly...slappies for me.

Yeah...the non-code version is a pubic rss.

The coded version however...i'm pretty sure should work...as long as you can get out to the internet to sign them up etc. With the coded version the alert account is allocated to IP addresses supplied by you..so as long as your signup page and where you send the alert from can get out to the world on that ip address it should be fine.

Hope that set of rambling is some help.
