Hello, Windows Messenger 8.1 keeps signing me out and back in consistently. Very frustrating when in the middle of a chat or sharing files. No error messages or codes.

OS - Windows XP Pro Dual-Core Intel Processor, 3 Gb RAM High-speed Extreme Internet connection.

Shaw Secure2 Extended and Windows Firewall.
No viruses, spy ware or adware.
This started about three weeks ago for no apparent reason.
So where is the problem My computer or Messenger

Please give me an answer to resolve this. Thanks Smile

Yeah its happening to me. i have read a lot about people blaming firewalls or routers for this, but the fact is that msn 8/8.1 is just ***... they have messed something up in the code, because msn 6/7.5, trillian and web messenger all work for me. This proves that it has to be something in msn 8/8.1 code that is doing this and it hasnt anything to do with any router or firewall issue.

you can try this solution, although it didnt work for me. http://www.edbott.com/weblog/ p=1515#comment-154400

they are talking about not being able to sign in, not the program singing you out

okay yea I've been having the same problem. you think the solution might be to just stick with an older version (i.e. 6 or 7.5 )

Nope, I have tried that and older versions caused the same problems. However, in the meantime Microsoft must have had a fix, patch or , because all is well now with Windows Live Messenger. I suppose at times its wise to be patient. If Windows Update (Microsoft Update) has not resolved your issue, try uninstalling WLM, reboot your system and do a fresh installation. I hope that will help. Smile
