- Using my own maps Sounds good, but is there any way to make it so it doesn't show the real world tiles when you zoom in and out I think I might try just scaling it down a bit and hiding it in the middle of the ocean, that way I can trap the user in the pacific, so when the tiles are loading it will just look like a navy blue background, and I will set it so that the person can't pan outside of a bounding box. Thanks for the help! -Cecchi Edit: "http://www.zoomatron.com/Images.aspx" is basically my goal, but it only wants to work in IE, and on all the images but the first, you can zoom out and see the world. - Can you exaggerate the terrain differential in 3D view? Thanks for the suggestion, but that's not really what I'm trying to do. I need to be able to 'stretch' the z element in order to view the topography of an area in sharper relief. - WebAuthControl IFrame never displays Sign-Out in Firefox My implementation for Windows Live ID has been released. view it here http://www.msg-time.com This works in IE, Opera, and Safari. Just asking again if anyone would know why the sign-in link would not be able to display in Firefox 2.0. I will make this visible for firefox users for the time being until I get some remedy on this...but if not I guess they'll have to miss out on this wonderful addition. Thanks for any help with this. - Display multiple pushpins to the same lat/lon Yeah I agree with Brian, if there is a only a few pushpins then do it in javascript, if you have thousands take a look at server side clustering, the latest version of the article is for V6 of Virtual Earth: http://www.viawindowslive.com/Articles/VirtualEarth/ClusteringPinsinVirtualEarth6.aspx I also did a project once where we swaped out pushpins for polylines, using the icon from the polyline as the pushpin and drawing a line from it to the actual position avoiding any overlaps - I think the concept is called "pin on a stick". - Parameterized Mashups I agree with parameters for mashups. I was going to create my first block, a QueryStringParser which when given the querystring parameter name it would return the associated value. I thought this could be useful as consumers could easily customize mashups based on these values, however adding a querystring parameter to the url (e.g. ../x.small color=blue) generated a page not found. Don't you think that it may be important to have that option of passing values via the querystring or are there other options available Tag: favorites api

- Zoom level and map center point not taken into account when using DrawPolygon Hi Andrew, Thanks for your time. I thought anybody was going to take a look at my examples :-) I've tried changing the width and height of the div (as you said), and yes, the shown map is different, but still don't see it well centered, at the given point. - Windows live messenger won't open I don't think the windows updates are the problem, atleast not for me, my problem started almost a week and a half ago now. i've been emailing back and forth with msn support the whole time and nothing so far has solved my issue. it's completely non responsive now, i've uninstalled it completely for now since it seems that my yahoo messenger also has problems when msn is installed, once i uninstall yahoo is fine again. i don't get it at all. - Update Frequency I have been searching for some documentation or an FAQ to confirm the frequency the MSNBot Crawler indexes websites. I was also wondering whether having an API Key meant your website would be crawled more often since it has a Windows Live Search box... Who knows! I think an FAQ is needed. We currently use an old version of MondoSearch which indexes every night, its good, but has its issues, which are POSTing for search instead of using a querystring (when you click back, the webpage expired message is shown). - Sketchup for Google Earth and .... for Virtual Earth?? I too would like this and would like to be able to go one stage further. I have dabbled with trueSpace for years and would love to be able to import trueSpace models (or 3DS etc.) into Virtual Earth. I have recently been discussing this in the trueSpace forums: http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php t=3223&page=6 I think if Microsoft go down this route there is a huge potential for further development. On a similar note does anybody know how the current 3D buildings in Virtual Earth are generated I was looking at Eastbourne in the UK recently and just about the entire town has been rendered in 3D. I am assuming that some sort of 2D image interpretation software must have been used (using photographs from multiple angles). - URGENT!!! Why i can't change the bot's friendly name and personal message? Hi Gruia, thx for your reply, i am able to change the name and personal message now, but it still could not be refreshed in the MSN, unless restart the MSN. And it still could not be online. i try to start the server on another PC. These problems are still exsist. Another bot works very well on my pc, it can be changed name and personal message whether in the BFG file or use the ABMSNSetFriendlyName/ABMSNSetPersonalMessage in the dialogue, and be refreshed in the MSN immediately.These two robots almost have the same procedure, except the email address. BTW, the weak bot has passed the appid application last weekend, did it induce these problems Another question i want my bot has its personal message in chinese, but if i changed it in the BFG file(in IDE), the server could not be started, when i changed it back in english, it runs. - Latitude and Longitude in VE I confess...I'm a real beginner at this. I want to embed a VE map in a webpage for my geography students that requires them to enter latitude and longitude in order to get to what I want them to see. How can I do this I want them to start at a specified set of coordinates, with the option of viewing either maps, birds' eye view, or hybrid. I DON'T know javascript - am just looking for code to paste into my webpage. Here's the code I've got so far. - VEPushpin.OnMouseOverCallback is not very customizable please help. this is what i was looking for until microsoft provides a clean approach in the virtual earth api. By the way another question i might as well ask. I saw sample of how to load pushpins in a normal fashion as well as to load pushpins through georss in which i can create a handler in my application which generates GEORss xml file. works fine for me. but is there something out there for doing something similar for colored polygons like can i declare a file which defines the latitude and longtiude for drawing a polygon. the sample that i saw was simply writing a javascript to create a polygon and fill the color. is there a sample which shows how to load a polygon with GEORSS or add it to a layer. Another big question that i have is i am using it for a marketing project and i have people's address. is there any way i can get the latitude and longitude from virtual earth method when i pass the address to it . Another question: I might have 1000 to 1500 pins to load and loading them up all at once doesn't sound optimal. what would be the best way to approach it. should i grab the latitude and longitude of the center of hte map and grap all the people in my list that are with 20 to 30 mile radius and as they move the map around i can get the new center and once again grab additional points. This part actually doesn't sound to complicated but keeping track of what pins i have loaded seems to be a lot of javascripts cuz when i grap the people based on new latitude and longitude i might be creating pins out of which some of them may have been previously loaded. - I am Dangerous : ) Cycle Through Shape Information? I have a call back which sets the icon for each point. What I would like to do is set the icon based on criteria contained in the xml document used to generate the layer (ShapeSourceSpecification). How is the best way to approach this Should I use the content within the title and description tags Can I supply additional XML tags and content in the XML document and use this as the criteria Then use an if then statement to generate the icon I know this might sound confusing but here is the code and a logical examaple of what I am trying to acheive. Virtual Earth beats the pants off of Google Maps by the way! I am doing this in one layer because if I use two layers I cannot use the BestView option to focus the map zoom level within the contraints defined by all the outer most shape points on the map. - Fire Fox Map not sizing right nevermind, I see the problem now. This wiki hack you used will get VE working but will still inherit a lot of the bad firefox HTML formatting properties. If you reduce your mapsize to like 200px by 200px you'll see the hidden words behind the map. I would suggest you reduce the size of the map and play around with the text until you get something that works in both IE6 + firefox Tag: favorites api
