I am using the webservice on the website listed below.  It quit working recently and now I get this error:

System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.DoConnect(EndPoint endPointSnapshot, SocketAddress socketAddress) at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.InternalConnect(EndPoint remoteEP) at System.Net.ServicePoint.ConnectSocketInternal(Boolean connectFailure, Socket s4, Socket s6, Socket& socket, IPAddress& address, ConnectSocketState state, IAsyncResult asyncResult, Int32 timeout, Exception& exception) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetRequestStream() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters) at com.msn.search.soap.MSNSearchService.Search(SearchRequest Request) at SearchControl.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e)

It states that the target machine has refused the connection, however when I run the search at the localhost it works fine.  Any ideas as to why this is   It has worked fine for the last 4 weeks...

Have you checked if firewall is blocking the connection OR the user account has rights to access it

Well I just got off the phone with our network admin, and all he did was turn off ICMP in the router and now it all of a sudden works fine. He had ICMP open for a subnet in the city and the search on the website went down. Now since he has closed it back off, the search is working again!

I don't understand this at all, but all I know is it works now...

weird!
