im using windows live messenger 8.1 and whenever i try to change the display name, the next time i sign back in it has defaulted back to the same thing, "Robert". Is it getting this from my profile even though there is no "robert" anywhere to be found I tried playing with the settings in options like shared computer business etc. and cant seem to make it stick.

Just found this tip on http://forum.mess.be/lofiversion/index.php/t19824.html Seemed to have worked for me at least. -h --- First make a backup of your contactlist by going to Contact > Save instant messaging contacts in main WLM menu (just incase). Next try the following: Close down Messenger if it's running. Click Start > Run, and type: %userprofile%\contacts <enter> If nothing appears in the folder, click the Tools > Options > View tab, click 'Show hidden files or folders' and click OK. Once you are able to see the folders, right-click the one that corresponds to your Passport and choose Delete. Next, click Start > Run, and type: %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts <enter> Remove the corresponding folder again in this folder. Restart Messenger, notice signing in will take a bit longer as it has to get your contactlist from the server again (we deleted the cache). Tag: display name will not change

- Pushpin to Address, rather than Lat/Long Hey matt, you need to put the FindLocation call inside your AddPin function, before you create the new VEPushpin. Rob - do you get "Your display name could not be changed, please try again later." Did you select "remember me"
If so, the server has issues every now and then. It'll be fixed soon, just wait it out.

i dont see how having "remember me" turned on or off would effect the display name. It only effects your email address and status on the current computer.
