I seems to have problem cleanup the custom map once I switched between Hybrid and Road views.

The custom map layer works good when first call it up (in Road view). It's still good if I zoom-in or zoom-out right after callup. But if I switch to Hybrid view, then switch back to Road view. Then anytime I zoom-in or zoom-out, there seems to be a left-over custom layer staying around (a fixed size rectangle with custom map). Any idea what may be causing it

The code I have was cut/paste from the sdk, except I changed the .png path and the lat/lon location. When I run the sdk sample with the same steps, it works fine, without the cleanup problem. My custom map folder was created using MapCruncher.

Its a known issue that we have identified on this forum before. (you're not alone)

I have tried all sorts of ways around it including removing the layer and adding it again when the user changed mape types but it doesn't help.

It must be a bug in the VE logic as part of the way to ensure it appears ontop of the new map tiles, the old tiles are clearly not being removed completly. I noticed this is more apprarent on a slow machine.

Unfortunalty since Caleb left us we get little feedback on these issues anymore

The only thing I haven't tried is removeing the layer before the mape type changes - there is no built in VE event for this but you could do it on a custom button and not use the default dashboard. (Still won't stop users on the keyboard though)

This same bug is still occurring with the version 6 map control. Any word from MSFT on when we might see a resolution for this issue

For a clean example, see http://gis.anaheim.net/CustomTileTest.html Pan and zoom a bit, switch to aerial or hybrid mode, pan and zoom some more. Before long the map is covered with remnant tiles that should have been removed.

Please help. It's a show stopper for us.

I have a client reporting the issue also in V5 and V6. I sent them the most basic example of a tile layer and they sent me screenshots of it completly mixed up, the tile layers don't dissapear and stack up.

I cannot replicate this on Vista in IE7 Safari3 or Firefox2.

What OS and Browsers does this occur in

John.

Derrick (MSFT)

This problem will only happen on IE6. I have reported the bug.

Derrick, if you have spotted the bug any ideas on a work around Would any comninations of hide/show, reloading etc make any difference Or are we best to wait
