    - Can Live ID Web Auth allow access to users data? The issues you raise of integration between the different Windows Live Services is a valid issue, and I am personally working to bring together the various Live Service teams to attempt to unify our platform wherever possible. The concept may be simple, but the implementation requires the utmost attention to detail. We are currently in the initial stages of rolling out these services to the public and want to make sure we do it right. We believe that the slow and steady approach will provide a favorable outcome. If you have ideas, scenarios or solutions addressing the issues of user consent, application trust, data sharing, integration or API design, I am open and listening to suggestions and am in a position to influence the direction of the platform so, I am all ears!     - Having Problems with Windows Live Messenger For those of you have had this problem...Dante_KZ has posted the fix. I had problems with Live Messenger not loading but running in the processes. Upon shutdown, I would get problems closing WLM along with other issues such as CRTCClient or CRTCMediaController shutdown problems. I was also unable to work my Webcam Software (Logitech) and Messenger simulataneously. After trying to debug the issue as being a potential conflict with my Video Card or Webcam Software/drivers, I finally came upon this post.     - Can't load a map from the ASP.NET Page_Load() event Hey guys the "operation aborted" error is caused when you try to manipulate the DOM before it has loaded. The solution is to not execute any javascript that adds to the DOM, like the map load for example, until after the body has loaded.     - Developing Messenger Add-ins: getting a user-assigned friendly name I'm working on developing an add-in for Windows Live Messenger. It is a simple text-to-speech add-in that says something when a user's status changes. For example, if a user logs in, it would say "So-and-so is online." This I already have functional. The problem is that a user can have two friendly names: 1. The name that the buddy gives him or herself. This is the nickname that has been in the Messenger system for years and years, and is returned by the User.FriendlyName property. Unfortunately, some users give themselves cryptic names that do not lend themselves easily to identification, and are not easily read in a text-to-speech engine. For example, ".:: Baruck ::.", "Aluink", "*9milKevin", etc. It really sounds bad when running it through a TTS engine. 2. Recently the Live Messenger team added a feature where you can give your buddy whatever nickname you like. A user can then rename those cryptic names of their buddies into something more intelligible, readable, and rememberable (e.g. the user's actual full name). Unfortunately I can't figure out how to access that new nickname from the add-in API. It just gives me the buddy-chosen nickname from #1 above. Hello all, Today (May 28th) I have requested an invite via popfly.com I've also been to Aaron's blog and tried to bag one of his five invites on offer but it looks like they've all gone. Have I got any chance at all of getting an invite I'm putting together a Live.com collection related to a certain popular music festival here in the UK (if you know about festivals then you can probably guess which one) and I've got some ideas for gadgets that I'd like to put up there. When I have Windows Live Toolbar enabled, and I have several tabs open, the browser crashes when I try to close a tab. If I disable the toolbar, everything works fine. It's annoying.     - ASHX Handler and Ajax Hello All, I am creating a virtual earth map that pulls information from a sql database using an ashx handler. I know my ashx handler works because I was able to browse to it using I.E. and it gave me an xml document with the information from my sql database. However There are currently 59,227 items being pulled from the database. After they are pulled I need them to be plotted as pushpins on my map when the zoom level reaches a certain level. Since thare are so many points I know this will not work without AJAX. However I am only starting to figure out AJAX.     - Hello to all: microsoft Microsoft LifeCam v-xx Hello to every one for those who have the "Microsoft LifeCam v-xxxxx I found a work around that works 10000% 1st the driver from microsoft are no good and will not work right under vista closees msn error message etc, 2eme you need to install the drivers anyway because you nedd them even if they don't work. now get a program named "WebcamMax v.3510 at least "this one is made for vista. Once you have it install it easy when it starts it will do yo want webcammax via default say yes , now go to msn goto options config video etc now you can set up your "Microsoft LifeCam v-xxxxx" now mine works great it follows me all around tils moves up and down left and right centres all by it self super I hope MS reads this and just maybe they can come up with one but don't wait do what I said and you'll see it works SUPPPPPPER .     - SQL Server and Virtual Earth Hello All, I am writing a DotNetNuke module using VB.Net that has Virtual Earth Pull Latitudes and Longitudes from a SQL database if the zoom Level is over 5. I have my function that detects the zoom level and I have verified that it is working function endZoom(e) { alert(e.view.zoomLevel); ViewVE.zoom(); } // end of end zoom I also have VB.Net code that pulls the information from the database and displays the information on the map, if the zoomLevel when the map loads is over 5. I need to somehow conbine these methods so that whenever the endZoom function is triggered it checks the zoom level, displays the information to the user if the zoom is above 5, and clears the map if the zoom is below 5. So I gather there's no way to have a map showing all the results for forklift jobs without specifying a location (such as Florida or Seattle) and just letting the user click on the map to look for results Even so, this is a very cool tool, especially for us non-techies who couldn't previously mashup a couple of APIs if our lives depended on it.     - Use Virtual Earth data in 3D games? John, I got confused after going to the website that you referred me to. I downloaded Ghosts and TopDown programs but they gave me send/don't send messages. I found out that I can enable FPS mode by pressing the CTRL-Q keys. When I'm close to the ground, I may have problems moving around because I go into buildings like ghosts. Tag: STILL NOT WORKING :@

I had the same problem but I right clicked the messenger icon on my desktop and selected "run as administrator" in the properties/shortcuts/advanced. It starts up every time now. I use Vista Home Premium.
