I make an application that indexes the cities of the world alphabetically. I am a inexperienced with the current global mapping technology and am curious how I might be able to use it with my indexing application. Any suggestions or references to books or articals will be of much help. My development environment is vb.net 2003.

Thanks,

Paul

You could provide a link to see the cities on a VE map easily, pass the "City, Country" into the VE Find() function.

See the iSDK for a guide: http://dev.live.com/virtualearth/sdk/

If you knew the bounds the each city or centre and radius (latitude, longitude) you could use the VE map to link back to your index

Thanks for the information. It seems that the key to store the latitude and longitude for each record. Then when a record is selected that information is ready for use by the Virtual Earth Control.

Hi, working on a similar project myself. Does anyone know the most complete source of latitude/longitude data for cities. I can find short lists on the internet by country but was looking for something more accuate and official. Also, when using latitude and longitude for working with VirtualEarth, how does one format the strings.

57 9 N / 138 36E or 57.9N / 138.36E

Thankyou,

Marie
