Hi all,
I am a fully working version of google maps at http://useamap.com. I have a test page at http://useamap.com/directions.html where I have taken a standard Google example(From its examples page) and included the Virtual Earth script into it also. All works fine, except in Firefox, where any time I click on the map, the point jumps to the other side of the map!!! Without including the Virtual Earth script, the page works fine. Is there something I should be looking out for I have read most of the tutorials out there, but none of them deal with problems loading Gmaps and VEmaps together.
Please help,
Vinny Glennon

Hmm good one.

From what I can see it looks like google is getting the wrong lat/lon when u click on the map, but is actually placing the pushpin at the lat/lon that the alert shows.

This will definatly need more investigation, but I did notice you are using the old ver 3 virtual earth control. It could be that using ver 4 fixes the issue.

<script src="http://dev.virtualearth.net/mapcontrol/v4/mapcontrol.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Hi,
The page is currently using v4, but I still get the same problem. Without the VE script in it, the page performs like it should. It seems the Virtual Earth script messes with the event listener and changes it. Should I report this to microsoft or have you ever seen this issue before.

Vinny

The problem can be caused by either method overriding or function overlapping due to mixing of boh Google / VE Javascript files. Likely the case is that the VE script was loaded first, then the Google one came second in scope (order matters), thus overriding some of the VE code.

Somewhere in the code, VE is over riding the google map event controller. I changed the order around so that VE is loaded last, but I still get the same problem. Do you know if either company have released a code fix for this yet Or maybe it is something that I am missing... Its a tough one to track down!

I havn't tried this at all but it would be good to know what the conflicts are. If you do figure them please do let us know and we can put them in the wiki / feedback to the VE team.

If all else fails you could always put two iframes on your page and effectively sandbox each control from each other.

Hi,
When I get the answer I will email you to let you know it,so that you can put it into the wiki. I emailed Microsoft and Google about it, so hopefully they will see the email. The two iframes could be a good hack, but if you have any more ideas of a solution then I would love to hear it. Has anyone else attempted to have VE and Google maps displaying together I had a long look on the net, but couldnt see a site that imported the 2 scripts at the start of each script.
