So I wondering how does this working with websites such as Facebook work Is it something special that Microsoft has set up with them or do all websites have it

For example, I was just introduced to a new website (www.last.fm) and it would be cool if one you could access your profile through a block!

There are other websites who have really cool services that would be nice to be able to make a mashup out of so do I just have to learn coding and try and figure out a way to work with the website

BTW people reading this post also check out www.anywhere.fm another very cool website! You can upload all your songs through ITunes and share and listen to them ANYWHERE!

Thanks.

For Facebook we consume their public API (Application Programming Interface) which allows 3rd parties (like us) to create applications based on their data, in our case it allows to make blocks Smile.

Last.fm have a set of API's that could be used to create blocks. In fact a few users have already created LastFM blocks. If you create a new mashup and use the block search list on the left hand side and search for "last" (just enter the text in white text box, no need to press enter Smile). You should see a couple of blocks that wrap some of the functionality for LastFM. Not sure if it covers what you want but you could always use those blocks as a basis for your own block by "ripping" them or using the block editor and selecting them from the left hand side block search list.

I tried them out but the main LastFM block (five star rating), I am not sure how to use.

I was hoping to be able to access my profile through it but not sure how its possible with the current blocks available.

Thanks.
