Quite frankly im getting tired of having to copy and paste links from Windows Messenger into my Firefox browser.

Is there any hacks I could use like a reg key edit to force it to use Firefox

Well, normally you shouldn't need to do any hacks.

Just set up your web browser as the defult browser following this guide.

This is not right MagnusJ, because Windows Live Messenger indeed opens clicked links in IE, not in the default browser.
As far as I know, there is no real good workaround yet. I hope this issue will be fixed in the future.
You could think about installing StuffPlug, that has a feature that will open the links in your default browser.

Hi Jeroen Bransen.

Thanks for your reply.

I will not argue with you , but my experience differs from yours.

I documented the behaviour of the Set Program Access and Defaults in relation to Live Messenger in this simple webcast and let it speak for itself:

Thanks,

Hey,
Now that is interesting, I have never seen that behaviour before. I just tested it at my machine, and I do not experience the same thing as you, but for me it works like this:
Messenger always opens the links in IE, unless I set the default browser to Firefox AND have a window of Firefox open.
What version of messenger are you using
