Hi -
I'm a tech neophyte, so not sure if I'm doing something wrong or there's a bug, but I've linked Virtual Earth and Indeed.com and am getting an error when I try to preview it in IE or Firefox. When I look at the Virtual Earth block, it shows that it's pulling inputs from Indeed.com. But when I look at the Indeed.com block, even though it gives me the option to select Virtual Earth as the input source, every time I select Virtual Earth and save, it still defaults to Seattle as the geo area. When I try to preview, I get one or both of these messages:

ERROR: Object expected
callBlocksAtDepth0 is not defined

Can someone please help me out Thanks!

Hi,

You've got a perfectly valid question but I'm having a little trouble understanding exactly how your mashup is connected. Would you save your mashup, share it, and post your user name and the name of the mashup

Thanks!

Thanks, Michael. My username is lisadh and the mashup is forklift jobs. Thanks for the help!

Hi - thanks very helpful!

It was an inventive way that you tried getting Virtual Earth to recenter by connecting both Indeed Jobs to Virtual Earth and also Virtual Earth back to Indeed Jobs. Unfortunately this won't work because what you really need to do is call the setMapView operation on Virtual Earth in addition to addPushpin. At the moment there isn't any way to visually call two operations on a block. You could do this by editing the code of Virtual Earth in your mashup using "Switch to an advanced view". However, there is another way that you might find easier. Try this. You can see this working with my mashup "forklift jobs Florida" under my user name RealHeartMozart.

1. Add block Indeed Jobs

2. Set the parameters of the job name and location in the Indeed Jobs block

3. Add user - contributed block Virtual Earth Recenter (thanks Piane Smile )

4. Connect Indeed Jobs to Virtual Earth Recenter

5. Add block Virtual Earth

6. Connect Indeed Jobs to Virtual Earth

7. Preview

Now it will show the jobs you want and automatically recenter Virtual Earth.

(By the way I think there should be an even easier way to do this, and I've filed a request in our system accordingly.)

Yours,

Thanks very much, Michael! That worked great! So I gather there's no way to have a map showing all the results for forklift jobs without specifying a location (such as Florida or Seattle) and just letting the user click on the map to look for results Even so, this is a very cool tool, especially for us non-techies who couldn't previously mashup a couple of APIs if our lives depended on it. Kudos to Microsoft! And thanks again for the help.

You're welcome. Smile

There is a way to do pretty much what you have in mind.

1. On the Indeed Jobs block, use * for location. That seems to return all jobs.

2. On the Virtual Earth Recenter block, enter the value 1 for zoom. That zooms back so that you see the entire Earth.

3. Now Preview and see forklift jobs all over the world.

4. Use the + / - slider to zoom in and out. Drag the map to center the job location you want to zoom in on.
