I recently attempted to create a photostack mashup that takes my pictures from facebook and puts them together in the photostack program (I was inspired by Alpesh's spacesPhotoSlide) However the difference between mine and his was that i was also trying to install it as a gadget as well in windows VIsta Sidebar. This seemed to have had a major effect on the resolution, but on further investigation i noticed thats how it was in the popfly preview as well. I also noticed that he used the Live spaces while i used facebook. I have 2 possible theories as to why this is happening to my photos.

1. Facebook sends the thumbnail version of the pics so when they are viewed in photostack they look distorted because they are magnified by photostack. When the "See All" option is selected the pictures are smaller but clearer which would also aid my theory. My best guess is that LiveSpaces doesnt do this.

2. My pics arent that great of a resolution to begin with but his are.

If anyone can confirm or deny my theories it will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

You're right on #1 - Facebook sends the thumbnail photos of friends.

For #2, it looks like one needs to use the Facebook block "GetPhotos" operation. This should display good resolution photos, but the operation is not working. I've logged a bug on this.

You're welcome. Smile

By the way, in another thread a Popfly user found a partial workaround for getPhotos. You might be able to use this to make some progress: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx PostID=1902199&SiteID=1.
